I agree with struggling with the heat....the humidity sucks....I think it's all about sweating and fluids....but pacing helps....I work with horses, so it's very physical....and in cooler weather with little humidity, I was rocking the work load....in the sweltering weather..not so much,

I had a prickly feeling in my hands and feet...legs...skin...for the first few days...but it's completely gone now.....week 5, O/S.  Sunlight and bright light still bother me...but dark glasses and shade help.

good,luck...hang in there,,,,stay positive,,,,good things are coming your way!

Bob, I'm in my 12th week of treatment now and can tell you the SX should improve over time. I'm guessing you're a wildlands firefighter but could be wrong. You already know the importance of hydration with your job but it's even greater now. Even though I fought structure fires mostly I understand the stresses it puts your body under. Stay safe, Kurt

Hello Fireman Bob,

heat really makes me feel badly. I think the Olysio is set off not just by light but also heat, when you have to work hard, most likely your body is over heating, also I can see how the heat from fighting even a small fire would set the Olysio off. I hope your boss is patient with you and reasonable, this treatment does not last but a few weeks and you really need to be treated.  I am into my 5th week of Solvaldi and Olysio and its going fine. I miss cycling and garden and swimming in the Pacific but I will have those things back soon. Good good luck to you! Aloha

Update:

Today I had no major aches or tingling! And I'm really happy about that. Yesterday was a little worrisome but I felt like a new man today until I started work. I had to tell my boss what was up because I was fighting an uphill battle with extreme fatigue when I was working a fire in our lovely 99 degree weather.

Needless to say my performance wasn't so stellar and it didn't go unnoticed. I thought there was a chance I could still hang in there for the physical part but now reality sets in and I'm working with my supervisor to get through some of my regular duties.

When I'm not doing arduous activities, I feel better than before and mentally sharper. My mind wants to go but my body is saying NO when the intensity starts.

The fatigue I experienced today was almost to the point of passing out. I'm sure when my viral load drops, my energy will return.

Congrats PW! Let's kill this beast together. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences with me. This gives me a good idea of what to expect. I appreciate you all!

-Rob

Thanks Isiscat, I appreciate that.  I'm feeling better already!  I know it's 100% mental at this point but who cares. :)

PW:  Just wanted to wish you the best of luck with your tx.  I know how much frustration both you and Rob had to endure just to get the tx and I'm happy to see it worked out.  Here is to a smooth ride and SVR for both of you!!  biggrinbiggrin

Rob, my first dose just went down the hatch a couple minutes ago. I don't normally speak to inanimate objects but this time I thought it was appropriate. I said "get in there and kick its ass" to these awesome little pills. Hope your itchiness is better today. I guess I'll know soon enough if I feel the same thing.

Rob, I remember the first few days after starting the tx that I felt really good...to the point that I thought I had psyched my self into feeling better...then I hit the fatigue time which was about 2 weeks in,  and that lasted about 1-2 weeks ( I needed a desk chair seatbelt so my head wouldn't hit the computer monitor lol..), after that my body adjusted and I started to have more energy and feel better each week and now....well I'm ready to get back out in the boat and do some fishin !!! Once I get the 2 yrs of backlog honey do list things done !! @$%&%$

One thing I do know is the more active you are the less your body aches...at least while your moving, getting going each day with a hot !! shower helped loosen things up to get moving because mornings have been hard...maybe I've developed some arthritis ?? IDK

Hang in there you will be done before you know it!

Ah ha! So there are others with this side effect.  Well I'm glad it's to be expected then. You guys are great. I was starting to wonder if I was allergic to one of the meds. Good to know and tonight I feel a little better after eating some good food and drinking lots of water. I can see right now, I'm going to need to slow down at work.

I'm so glad you guys are here to help answer my questions that seem really foreign to me right now as I definitely feel different than I did yesterday.

The good news is I had no idea the virus was making my eyes hurt. This is the first day I haven't had burning eyes in almost a year! Seriously... Something positive is happening after only one day so I'll take it for now.

Thanks again, we'll talk soon.

Hi Rob:

My crystal ball predicts that your tingling/achy legs will begin to feel better soon.  :)  When any new meds hit your system it usually takes some time for your body to adjust.  Just think of it as if you had overdone your work-out instead of something ominous.  You are young and strong and I'd be willing to bet you are going to do great on these meds.  I wonder if Vegas would take my action?

Thanks Tig,

Yeah, it's more of an ache now. I really appreciate the info you gave me earlier. You're always spot on! Hopefully there are others on this forum that have experienced the same thing on this combo and can provide their two cents as to when and if it went away.

If this is the worst of it, I can definitely hang through it. I'm just a little nervous about tomorrow's dose. Lol- hopefully it's not worse...

Thanks Again! You're Awesome!

Hey Rob,

Sorry that is still bothering you! You mentioned that it's aching now, have you tried some Tylenol? My doc allowed me to use ibuprofen because Tylenol didn't help me. Check and see if that's okay with your doc before taking anything.

The first week is going to show you some odd SFX and feelings as these medications set in and start doing their "thing". Fortunately Sov/Oly aren't known for extreme SFX but I believe it's common to notice some differences as your body adjusts to the drugs. If the discomfort in your leg persists or gets worse, I would contact your doctor's office and let them know what's going on. It might take a week or more to adjust to these meds. Hang in there, I hope it let's up soon.

Hi All,

I took my first dose of Sovaldi/Olysio today and two hours later experienced some crazy tingling and an achy sensation in my right leg and foot. It really worried me at first but after talking to a couple of you, I'm pretty sure it's from the Olysio. Throughout the day, it's still here and I'm really hoping it doesn't get worse as Tx goes on.

Anyone else on this combo experience the same thing and if so, did it go away or lessen when your body got use to it?

Your experience here is greatly appreciated!

-Rob
