How wonderful this news is!!

Thanks Tig, the I.V.F might not be a success, but being able to try makes a world of difference to us. I hope the rest of Europe follow suit. I still think Gilead are greedy animals though! :D x

Thank you everyone, I feel like the future is bright again. I know I wasn't dying or anything, but it is still something that plays on all of us having Hep. I am glad that at least we can access here. I am still angry at the NICE reaction. Especially as the need is very high. I know that other diseases are important, but this is the worlds chance to curb this infection once and for all. Have a lovely evening everyone...Hugs fellow Hep C people, I'm glad I have met you all on here, it is the best thing to come out of it all. x

Hey Loopy

Happy days for you, all the EU countries should respond so quickly. So happy for you. Also if I did my math right Sovaldi will cost for a 12 weeks course about $67,000 . Looks like a lower price than the States which is a good thing maybe Gilead is getting the (massage) on there image. Anyway Loopy the Netherlands are first in Sovaldi in the EU maybe they will be first in the World Cup LOL

matt

Hahah thanks Matt, it is still a hefty price considering that a whole course of Interferon and Riba came to only 12 thousend Euro! Saying that there is no price on health is there? People are on a football high here :D

Thanks Mary, I just hope all countries follow suit. The cost of a liver transplant far exceeds the cost of this treatment. But I hope it is available to everyone sooner or later, we all deserve a chance to cure without having to go through older treatments that are so tough to take! x

Hi Loopy,

Great news. You have every reason to be excited!

By the way, even though The Netherlands won, it was a great match against Australia in the World Cup, and I bet we had you worried! Cheers.

Thanks Mallani :)

Hahaha they were just giving you a little hope so your country wouldn't cry! ;) My house was full of orange dressed people yesterday eating pizza with beer - mine was alcohol free. :P

Yes, a small price to pay indeed!  I know you`ll still have the riba to deal with but without the interferon shots it will be so much easier for you this time around.

Do keep us posted, Lisa, and let us know how your hospital appointment goes!  smile

I will ask to take something for panic in case it was due to the Riba. Forewarned is forearmed. I will not be doing this a 3rd time, so the viruses had better get used to the idea they are going to die :D

I will do, I'm excited now as I was assuming this was my lot for a long time. Thanks Jill :D x

Please don`t apologise for sharing your excitement, Lisa!!I  I know you were planning to go in for IVF and so this is the best possible news for you on a personal level as well as being so good for people in your country.  And any good news is always very welcome where Hep C is concerned!

I`ve been reading some of Simeon`s articles and I must say I`m impressed with his depth of research and I`m glad you decided to share your story with him.  How good of him to phone you!  I must say from my brief correspondence with him he seemed very nice.

You`ve been waiting a long time for this and it also confirms that you took the right decision in stopping your previous peg/rib treatment.

He is indeed a very nice person, I am very happy his article may make a difference to someone, somewhere, and help them get treatment they need!

I'm so happy I decided to quit now, I had doubts and a little turmoil about my decision, and now I feel justified I made the right decision. I might have to postpone our family holiday because of the Riba, but it is a small price to pay. Looks like it is going to be a winter holiday now! :D

Thanks Jill, it was good to share it with you. :D

Good morning LIsa, and what a good morning it is!!

I just happened to be online when I saw this post appear...what excellent news for you and for everyone in the Netherlands who is waiting for this treatment!  You must be delighted, Lisa, and I couldn`t be more pleased for you.  Where did you hear this, from your hospital?

I hope NICE takes this onboard when they come to their final decision next month!

Well done the Netherlands for leading the way!  smile

 Hey good morning :D

I have contact with Simeon and agreed to be part of his article. I'm open about being infected so its no deal for me. He did the research and told me this morning. Yesterday the hospital called me asking me to come in for an appointment again, so I gather the approval to perscribe is full swing ahead and I will be popping pills very quickly :D

Sorry if I'm very excited when I know people are waiting, but it makes a difference to me personally because it means I will get my I.V.F after all :D

Good morning everyone,

Today is a good day for me!!!!

As each European country has their own governing bodies, the Zorginstituut has approved Solvadi WITHOUT restriction with Riba at a cost of 98.584 Euro for a 24 week course. The hospital also called yesterday for a new appointment so I suspect I'm going to get my drugs after all! :D

It appears that the "NICE" decision is having no impact over here and this information will be public in the next two weeks on the official website.

I just wanted to share the news, and my obvious excitement. :D
