I had mine removed during day surgery and went back to work in a week. You would have several weeks of limited heavy lifting, so no metal tubs full of catalogs would be in your future! Do you have trouble eating certain types of food? People that are overweight tend to experience more gall bladder problems overall, and some food types, spicy or dairy laden varieties tend to cause gall bladder "attacks" in some people more than others. But as Malcolm mentioned pain from lifting is more musculoskeletal than GB in nature. Since you mentioned having a large gallstone, I'm thinking that any alternative method to try and dissolve it would take years and years to accomplish. The largest percentage of stones consist of cholesterol and are harder than rock. You'd have better luck blowing it up than dissolving it via dietary changes. Good luck with that though...

Thanks Tig.... Getting it out is the only thing I can do at this point, it is just too large.  I put a olive branch out to the surgical branch of the Tri-Healh Medical group I use.  I will be better of just doing it for the FMLA is a hassle and I would have to go through all that red tape a 2ed time as this is a different occurrence according to them. If I just do it now I can simply blame it on the hep=c treatment if and when I take off for it. and not have to go through any of that crap. What I am wondering now is would Physical therapy help me get back to lifting sooner. I just wonder if it might be worth including this in the plan.  I know it will cost me more,, but will it be worth it.

Hi Huey,

Just try to find out the cause for your pain. A single gallstone with no inflammation rarely causes problems. Pain on lifting sounds musculo-skeletal. Cheers.

I`m glad you`ve found out what the problem is now, Huey, and it was certainly worth having that CT scan done.  Gallstones are more prevalent in people with Hep C, and I didn`t know I had any until I had an ultrasound scan following my diagnosis.  Luckily mine have never given me any problems but if the pain is making life difficult for you and affecting the way you work then it`s definitely worth doing something about it as soon as you can I should think.

The problem is my work, I can not lift those mail tubs full of catalogues. I got on FMLA to get out of lifting them.  I have to get this fixed but need to waite till I get income tax refund to pay for it,, 6 months, Your opinion is appreciated and valued.  Just knowing what I am dealing with is half the battle.

Right now I am studying Alt tx.  Like dissolving it. I think that I am going to have some difficulty with the insurance paying for anything else cept a removal.  My Aunt has had hers out just last year and I have 2 cousins that had theirs out at a young age, one was only 20 so this is not something only old people do.

Thanks So much for the Advice.

Hi Huey,

I wouldn't get too excited about a single gallstone. I've been watching mine grow for 20 years, and now have 4, measuring ~3 cm in diameter. I'm happy now they're bigger.

Gallstones can cause pain, gallbladder inflammation and even cause bile duct blockage. This is all pretty unusual. Gallstones are common, and their pain is pretty typical. I wouldn't have surgery unless they caused problems.

Just my opinion. Cheers.

Got the results back , home from work early, got online , went to my chart, had this message.

I left a message with your brother for you to call me about yout CAT scan result. You have a large gallstone in the gallbladder. This could be causing pain. Your gallbladder is not inflamed or infected. If your symptoms persist you might want to see a surgeon about having your gallbladder removed. Call me if you have any questions.blankstare

So now I need to get up to date on Gallbladder.

Hey Huey,

Why are they doing a CT anyway? Is it just because you're having some abdominal pain? When they checked you before for stones, what did they find? If you're still having trouble with you Gall Bladder, I would think a Hida scan is more in order. You might ask about that, it will give you a better idea regarding Gall Bladder function. That was how they determined mine wasn't functioning. A CT is a piece of cake, should be in and out in 20 minutes.

No NO Tig... The accidental gull bladder x-ray was in Teaxas , I was 20, I am 52 now.. The Ct scan I am getting Monday is to look for Cysts, portal hypertension, Fatty liver, We are doing it now because i was asking about the belly pain, but was going to have this done regardless/ The stones turned out to be Sulphur deposits, drinking bad well water in a Hot Texas construction site.

Hi Huey:

Just wanted to wish you good luck with your CT scan tomorrow.

I'm sure it is nothing; they just had an open slot to fill and thought it would be fun to mess with you.  <Just kidding.>

It will be fine, though.  I've had a bunch of CT scans and they are a piece of cake.  Last couple of times they gave me some scrubs to wear instead of the less fashionable, and draftier, backless gown.  smile

Yea,, That s right your a lawyer,,, The first time I did this, I was 20, in Texas with what i thought was kidney stones. I went into the Hospital to get a CAth, procedure, They gave me a pill came back later when I was Stoned,  and ask , " Are you ready Mr, Huey."  Well I was ready for anything so they took me down to the x=ray room and x-rayed my gull blatter.  Ohh by the way,, My First name is Huey,, not my last.  Hows that for a law suit for ya.

Don't think that will happen any more, Thanks for the encouragement.

Last bottle in the mail..how good is that, Huey!  smile

Best of luck with your CT scan on Monday.  I`m surprised in a way that your nurse didn`t wait until you`ve finished your tx but at least it should pick up any other problem you might have.   Best to get it checked out anyway.

Keep us posted...you`re getting there.
