Just got one more week of this treatment with sovaldi and riba and the shots .failed twice before with incivic or however its spelled it came creeping back on me at 42 weeks of being negitive so doc had me start triple treatment with sovaldi and the old treatments with shots and riba pills .seems I been on treatment for over 3 .5 years now and I am a freaking bear with a bad attitude .I struggle everyday to keep myself in check .just had blood work done, have not heard back yet if this round has worked .

Worse spell was when I went to burger king last week and told person I did not want mayonnaise on my burger and I got it dripping all over it and I went nuts in restaurant .When I got home I was like wtf did I just do ,I almost went to jail over mayonnaise on a burger .

my wife tells everyone to not to screw with the Bear but I shock myself at times .

That is called Riba Rage,  Think how the guy at the Pharmacy feels.  They have to call you when it is time for more meds, They Know you are going to be a bear when they call because the drugs they are giving you make you that way, So they call you up , take the abuse so you have lots of meds and you can abuse them even more next time they call.

Such good advice, Sandy.  Diet and exercise, as well as staying hydrated, are so important not only for our bodies but also for our mental health.  Sometimes people do need a little chemical help to jump start the exercise and get into a better frame of mind.

Just remember, August:  When going through Hell, don't stop!  You don't want to take up residency there.

What you are going through now would be hard on anybody let alone somebody who is dealing with hepc tx.  This stage in your life is temporary, though. Just do your best and hang in there.

Hi August

I am sorry to hear that you have so much going on while your doing your treatment.   That's a lot to manage!  I know that my husband is on the Sovaldi/Oyisio also.  He found that the first few weeks he was very emotional.  He described all his emotions were just amplified (not a little happy, but ecstatic, or not a little angry, but rageful).  He also had problems with insomnia, which didn't help since he sometimes only slept an hour to two at best.  It was hard to tell if the problems with mood was fueled by poor sleep (research shows that sleep is a driving force in mood control).  Here is what was weird...we found that when he made a conscious effort to stay very well hydrated (drinking an extra 30 ounces of water a day), both of these problems seemed to diminish.  Not completely gone, but we can tell when he is not drinking enough water on top of all his other fluids.  It may not work, but its a pretty cheap solution that you can try.

Just another item to think about...most research shows that 30 minutes of walking outside (in addition to whatever your usual activity level is) is just as effective as Prosac or other antidepressants in treating depression.  The challenge we have in prescribing exercise is that when you are tired and depressed, the last think you want to do is go for a walk.   That's why medication sometimes helps to jump start it.

Hang in there.  This WILL get better.  There are a lot of people who have been through this (and more) who are able to listen and encourage you, so stay in touch.

Sandy

August,

Sorry to hear about your separation and depression. As if treatment and the virus aren't enough. I personally think a Hep C diagnosis, the virus itself, and treatment wears on a person to an unhealthy degree. Sometimes it's hard to stay positive, especially while trying to pay the bills and look out for kids.

Just know we're here for you and definitely see your doctor for some assistance If needed. Feel free to pose your health questions that may be bothering you as I've done so many times here. There are a lot of unkowns for these new treatments but hopefully the pay off is worth it in the long run.

Welcome to the forum.

-Rob

Hi August,

Welcome to the forum, I'm glad you found us. Depression is a known side effect of treatment and hepatitis, but I haven't seen it manifest itself under the Sovaldi protocol the way it does with the Interferon based therapies. It sounds to me like you've got an awful lot on your mind and that alone plus your treatment is certainly enough to put your mood in a place you'd rather not find it. By all means talk to your doctor about this and he/she will have some recommendations to fight the blues. Many of us have used anti depressants while on treatment with good success and your doctor will be your best advisor in this instance. There are a lot of people here that I consider my friends and have been there whenever I needed a shoulder to lean on. If you want to talk about anything, just let us know, we're here for support.

These drugs and the disease in general will make you tired. You're feeling the normal reactions to treatment. If you feel like posting any of your history, like lab results, viral load, genotype, etc, it helps us respond to your posts and we can provide better informed opinions. We often place that info in our signature section (via your profile). That way it shows up at the bottom of all your posts and is real helpful. If you have any questions, just let us know and one of us will be sure to reply. Good luck...

Tig

Hi , My name is August West and I started a 12 week tx of Sovaldi/Olysio 8 weeks ago. In the last 3 months I have seperated from my wife and in doing so that separated me from my 7 year old daughter. I'm about 1200 miles from them. I am having a hard time finding work and honestly life just sucks for me right now. Im really depressed and I am wondering if the meds are helping to fuel the depression. Has anyone taken antidepressants on this treatment ?  Im seeing a Dr. on Monday. Thanks . Other than the depression Im just tired all the time ..
