4 out of 5 leaves 1. What does that voice say? I just can't imagine what a voice that lives inside a Sovaldi tablet would say. LOL

I know better than to crank my saw nowadays. Fatigue hit me the other day just driving down the 4-lane interstate and before I could make it to the next exit I had to pull over to a safe distance from traffic for a quick nap. A State Trooper woke me up and asked if everything was alright. I told him my circumstances. He checked my license etc. and told me I was free to go, or I was welcome to go back to sleep for as long as needed.  This same thing has happened before, with a local police and HIV medications so I'm catching it double-barrel now.

But I'm glad the virus is on the run and I'm Sov/Riba's biggest cheerleader right now:

Rah Rah Ree, Kick em' in the knee. Rah Rah Rass, Kick em in the other knee. lol  biggrin

I don't get enough sleep as it is. If I had those Lucy fillings, with my luck I'd have to listen to them all night long = total nutcase. LOL

Hay Man ,, I have been there, That fatigue will hit you all at once and one risk is that it can happen at just the wrong time, like when your at the top of a ladder with a chain saw.   Watch out man, all this crazy " explentive " happening means the virus is on the run, Keep that in mind,  My best advice is avoid refined sugar, " No Coke"  Ither Kind,

As for the teeth, I had to have Dental Surgery and it was done right before I started Tx,  I have to go back and clean this up later, but my dental is a total loss. I wonder if I can get the fillings Lucy Ball had, the ones that play music??

Hi Scuffy,

I only have 5 left up top (with a partial). 4 are going bad for sure (medium decay around gumline and loose) and #5 (first moler) is a previously filled tooth that I don't see any advantage in keeping. So I suppose it's full denture up top with no option.

I have 9 strong teeth on bottom with a partial very well made in 2002 and have no problems with anything except early decay on 1 cuspid. I do need a dentist to do whatever can be done to slow the decay progression of that 1 cuspid, but other than that I don't plan to do anything on bottom but take the best care of those priceless little pearly's. biggrin

It did take me a pretty long time to get accustom to eating after the top partial was made. And it is actually an interim partial because I got strung out on alcohol etc. before the time came to have the permanent partial fitted. So I've just been re-forming the foundation filler in the temporary partial every 6 months or so since 2007.

I have become accustom to eating with them after a few years, and can eat most anything, although biting into a calus-skined apple is a monumental challenge . LOL

Thanks for your reply!

Hiya Mike

I also had bad teeth. I had the last 4 pulled way before treatment so that was no issue for me. A word of advise take it or leave it. At first I was glad to be gone with them until I went to eat with dentures. I still can't eat with them after 10 years. Wait until you finish treatment and if I was you I would do all I could to save what teeth I had.

Best of luck to you.

My Tx nurse told me the same thing as you Malcolm. When I canceled the dentist secretary told me to look at the positive side. I have 23 weeks to come up with a source to help pay for a whole new set of dentures. wink

That's not good, but I'm not as concerned about loosing teeth as much as I am rotting teeth producing bad bacteria that could be detrimental to my HCV Tx, HIV and health in general. My teeth are suffering from years of not-so-good oral hygiene most of the time. I'd love to get them all extracted and replaced with dentures but I have no dental insurance and certainly no $ to pay for it. Even when / if I do get these 4 pulled, the ability to keep wearing my present partial dentures is questionable. I quit all salt shakers and was doing better concerning diet, but I've really not totally complied with a healthy diet lately until my decision to totally comply yesterday. With this decision comes a boring menu to feed an already poor appetite on a skinny man, and I really am not fond of the idea of my diet being further limited based on food texture so I can eat it with no teeth or partial. I've seen several of the good ole country boys around here in Mississippi do it, so I know it can be done, but my concern at hand is mainly to not have/do anything that will have negative effects on my Tx.

Well I had 4 molars break during my 12 week S/O tx so I found it a bit odd that in all my prior years I had broke only 2 teeth....not sure that helps you at all but I found it odd.

I suspected I needed to consider some Tx related issues before doing this. My post-SOT labs won't be until 8-6-14, so I won't know my present WCC or platelets until then. My latest pre-Tx labs were 5-2-14, which are being used as SOT reference:

platelets = 136 L / WCC = 4.8

I'll call today to cancel or postpone that procedure.

I read several post about dental issues after Tx due to IFN, including your own. I was just having a tough time finding anything about dental issues while currently on either Sov or Riba.

Thanks once again Malcolm for your professional help! smile

Hi Mike,

Interferon is deadly for teeth, so you're lucky to have missed that one. Before any extractions, make sure your WCC and platelets are adequate. Check with your Hepatologist.

I'm feeling fatigued, have major abdominal pain issues and moderatly depressed, so I'm not in a good mood to do 'search' very much. What I would like to know is would it be a good idea to have decaying teeth (probably 4) pulled this coming Friday 8-1-14. I have read that decaying teeth can be a bad thing when on Tx so I would like to get them out for that reason. I already made this appointment weeks ago for the earliest possible date and I had hoped my SOT date would be delayed past this date, but that did not happen.

But I've had a questionable start to Tx with major constipation issues possibly caused by my new HIV Rx's, which are new as of 7-18-14. My old HIV Rx's were discontinued due to Sov/Riba interactions. Today the constipation finally seems to be solved to some extent. But doing so involved a massive increase in Lactulose dosage hence I'm experiencing major diarrhea yesterday and today. Hopefully I will be able to find a Lactulose dosage that will yield healthy BM's soon. I called my Tx nurse today and left a message but I have not received a return call yet. I certainly need to get my Dr's approval before doing this, but I'm hoping to gain some insight into this subject on this forum in the mean time.

I've had some past communication issues between my Tx nurse and I before SOT and I hope that's not going to repeat for this week. If so I'll just be forced to cancel/reschedule anyway.

Thanks for any guidance/recommendations/suggestions for this.
