I have discussed tattoo's on a few occasions because it's how I was infected. But I don't do it as a hobby or profession. We recently had a member "Trainhopper" (Robin) that talked about it in length a few times. I haven't heard from him for awhile, I hope he's doing well.

Your numbers are really good! I'm not a real fan of the Fibrotest, but having it reduce is a good thing whatever you think about the test! That would indicate a good reduction in fibrosis, a very rapid reduction, which gives reason to question its true accuracy. But again that looks promising. I also took milk thistle pre tx, but was instructed not to take it during Tx, because it can alter the liver enzyme readings, resulting in lower than true readings. I noticed lower numbers in my ALT/AST when i took it pre Tx vs. the times I didn't. So I believed it did benefit me. However, there are studies and individuals that believe it's not worth the money. It's entirely a personal decision and belief in its efficacy.

I had my last phone call with Twyla and she mentioned someone who does tattoos, maybe that was you?

Also, I forgot to mention this exciting news...my Fibrotest went from .61 at the beginning of the treatment to .43! My ALT started at 189, it's now 34 and my AST started at 140, it's now 20.

I have been taking 150 mgs of milk thistle daily for about 2 years now. Not sure if that has helped achieve this new healthy liver function but I intend to keep taking it.

Hey you two,

I just wanted to let you both know that we're all thrilled to hear of your success! We hear a lot about the new Gilead offerings, but we need to remember that there are some other "kids on the block", that are more than capable of killing the beast! We should all celebrate these newest offerings and as you have done, get the word out that these Abbvie drugs are entirely capable! Time for us to rent the clubhouse and throw a party!!! I bet we throw a good one too! So much to be happy about!! Congrats....

Mine was basically the same Hippiechick. Only other thing I had was a rash for about a month. Went away very quickly after I stopped the riba. I will add that at around 8wks end of treatment I feel great. I have more energy than I did even before I started. Oh and by the way I talked to Twila and told her we had been in contact. She will probably tell you that next time she calls.

I have already posted my good news but I wanted to include my experience with AbbVie in this thread. In brief: very, very minimal side effects. Mild headaches, a slight reduction in energy and a slight elevation in crankiness :) Definitely nothing to whine about considering some of the stories I've heard! I am also on meds for my thyroid so my worst side effect was the Riba increased the potency of the thyroid med and I had one fainting spell. We immediately reduced the dosage of the thyroid drug and I had no other issues.

My VL was 16 million+ when I strarted, less than 15 after 2 weeks and undetectable at 4 weeks. I'm now at 14+ weeks and still SVR.

The worst part of the Abbvie trial was so many pills. Again, I'm not whining...at least there were no shots! I set up alerts on my smartphone and never once missed a dose.

My dr. says the "cure" rate is around 99% with this drug.

Hope all goes well for those still taking the meds!

Well done, lilbit!    Now maybe your cat can complete his sumersault.  If he stays that way too long he may get stuck.

Just look at what happened to this Panda:

Thanks guys. Cannot wait to dance at your last day. I have two friends that said tonight after watching me they were going to try and get set up for treatment. One already has an appointment in December because we talked earlier.

No, they say it takes about a week. I was 3 days late for my 2 week, and have to go in two days early for my 4 week, so I should know something next Wednesday or maybe before.

No my appetite has not dropped.  I wish it would.  Only difference I see is that I have to go a little easy on green chili (a staple in NM) and tomato based stuff.  Gives me indigestion.  I am constantly wanting to piece on something.  I went and got grapes and oranges yesterday which sounded more healthy.  I am craving vegetables more than about anything.  I cannot afford to gain any weight.  I am only 5'1" and weight 150.  Already about thirty pounds over weight.

That's great. I hope you are back out there doing what you love soon. I like to roller skate and kayak. I am not too sure if my balance is 100% right now though, so I am going to wait on skating. By the time I was diagnosed in 2012, the new drugs were starting to hit the surface so I never felt like it was going to be a death sentence.

Has you appetite dropped off? Mine has, which is good cause I could stand to lose some weight. I will make sure to eat healthy. It would be awesome if I lost a few pounds while being treated!

Thanks guys. Yeah I am pretty happy about the results so far. The rash is minimal but you always tend to itch in New Mexico as the air is so dry. I do get tired easy but have found a short break and I mean a couple minutes gets me back up and running. Altitude has a little to do with that. We are at 6000 ft. Today I am getting ready for a Flea Market on Sat. I work a little, rest a little and go again. Seems to be working fine. It is getting done and that is all that matters.

You know, I have had such a hard time believing that Hep C can actually be cured. I honestly thought my lot in life was going to be to die at an early age because of it. The fact that my husband has relapsed twice doesn't help that feeling. After watching this forum and seeing some amazing results for the first time I have a glimmer of hope.

Another thing has happened that won't mean much here but to me it is major. I have a 30 year friend that is also my snowboard partner. We stated some 7 years ago and lost parts of a couple seasons to injuries, hers a broken ankle and my torn achillis. I was starting to get really depressed about it. We talked about it yesterday and she told me "sheesh get off the pity pot girl. We will go up like we always do, try a short run, rest and if nothing else knit and watch everyone else. By the end of season you will be back on top." This woman knows how to push when need be but put her arms around you when you need it. Love that woman. lol I will be back on top, she won't have it any other way. hehehe

I feel better already. Maybe I was partly tired from that trip on 2 hours sleep? At least they say I can take my multi-vitamin too, and I think that helps me. They had me bring everything I take (which is all over the counter stuff) and they said it was all fine.

That's great! I hope that is my experience with it too. smile  I am just lounging around today in my jammies, not super tired but just not any get up and go. I had planned on power washing a deck, but that's not happening. There is a lake across the street that looks calm, and if I felt energetic at all, I would be playing in my kayak. I noticed my breathing seemed a little weird, like I needed to remember to do it. confuse I am just babying myself along today, resting and giving my body time to adjust.

I don't tell people about having HCV unless it's a medical situation, like going to the dentist or getting blood drawn; or it's an anonymous situation like this forum, but I find it strange that others with the same thing expect us to be so judgmental with each other when most of the time, you both got it the same way.  It was darkly funny when the guy at the clinic was whining about his upcoming blood draw, I was thinking, yeah if you were really that scared of needles, I don't think your arm would be scarred up like that.

Yes LC it did.  Along with that came shortness of breath, grouchiness and a small headache.  The good news is by about a week and a half it all leveled off or I got used to it.  I too was scared that if I felt that way right away what was it going to be like at week 12.  I am no expert, but with me at least, I think I just had to adjust to putting legal drugs in my body.  hehe

I too have wondered why people seem to have to come up with some kind of explanation as to how they contracted the virus.  I am 64 and never fail to tell people I most likely got it back in my druggie days.  I actually feel sorry for the folks that got it in an innocent way like a transfusion, tattoo, job related etc.  They still have to put up with the stigma of the disease.  I made lots of stupid choices and actually do not have much regret.  All these experiences made me who I am today.

It will get better, I promise.

Lilbit, did your energy level drop a bit as soon as you started taking the pills? I had some plans for my day that I am starting to rethink. My nephew just came and offered to mow for cigarette money, and considering how lethargic I feel, I jumped on that.  I can deal with it, but I kinda hope this doesn't continue for 12 weeks or more.  I volunteered to work today too, if someone who called off yesterday calls off again today.  I sure hope they don't take me up on that now.

Huey, I wouldn't judge you if you did. You figure at least 60% of us landed here due to IV drug usage (which is a conservative estimate in my opinion) and I am no exception to that.

I met a guy yesterday at the clinic, and he brought up the topic of how he got infected and said he wasn't sure how it happened. hmm  I briefly considered telling him how I thought I must have contracted it sitting on a dirty toilet seat that summer I volunteered to be a counselor for church camp, but I was too tired to spin that huge of a lie, so I just said - I'm pretty sure I know how I got it, with a meaningful look at him, and he immediately fessed up.  biggrin.gif  Which made me wonder, why lie to someone you will probably never see again in your life?  Or someone on the internet who will never meet you personally?  Do normal people care that much about the non-essential opinions of others?  I ask because I know I'm not normal, but it's interesting to know how I would react if I was.

I hide the coffee pot when I am NPO after midnight so I won't automatically have coffee in the morning.  I am forgetful so I have to resort to whatever works.

I am a GRAY mouse.  The fact that you cannot determine what color I actually am, begs the question of whether you have possibly had a nip or a toke this fine morning.  biggrin

Probably  But in my defence I am colour blind. Although not to the point I can not tell pink from Gray, Mave from Forrest Green maybe, but not Pink from Gray.

Luckily I won't miss alcohol.  I am a recovering alcoholic and used to be a stone cold drunk.  I never could drink responsibly.  I always admired the people that could have a drink or two and not have to finish the whole keg by themselves.  I have over 20 years now so I'm good.

Good for you! I was pleasantly surprised I wasn't actually cirrhotic yet. I haven't been the kindest to my liver over the years. I guess I better take the little bit of vodka out of the fridge in case I forget.

I don't know if that is precisely necessary from a medical standpoint, or the point of view from my nurse, but what the heck - that stuffs all cheap, so I will take every precaution.

It's a minor thing, but I know I am going to miss drinking before my 3 months are up. I like a glass or two of wine, or vodka with cranberry/pomegranate juice after a long hard day.
