Hi Miffy,

Good to hear from you again. How's your Hb holding up?

An MRI is very poor at showing fibrosis, unless it is quite severe. When I had my Fibroscan score of 30 kPa, the MRI was essentially normal.

I still question your Fibroscan score. If your ALT was 236 at the time of the Fibroscan, the reading will be artificially high, as that indicates significant inflammation.

Anyway, if you're stuck with 48 weeks, good luck. You're doing well. Cheers.

Hello all,

Hope you are feeling well today.

Met with my GI this week. Had an MRI some weeks ago.

The report stated there was NO fibrosis, yet my fibroscan result has my GI classifying me as cirrhotic.

She indicated inflammation can skew fibroscan reading. At the time I took the fibroscan my ALT was 236. She told me not to get my hopes up.

I'm wondering how sensitive MRI is at detecting fibrosis?

xx

Groupergetter, Scruffy,Tig and Mallani,

What an amazing bunch you are.

I am so touched to receive such kindness and encouragement.

Love reading others experiences and input.

I have probably remained somewhat complacent with having a low HB because I feel life is manageable.

Work is actually quite a workout and demands a lot physically.

Still, after work I find enough energy to volunteer walking others doggies.

I get by on about 7 hrs of very deep sleep.(That is when I'm not woken by pain and tingling in my hand lol....one of the more recent sides).

On my day off I tend to kip which only makes me feel like I need more sleep. The more I do, the better I feel.

I'm positive I wouldn't be feeling as good if I was still on 1000 RIBA.

Sorry, im getting lost and rambling...

Thanks again for your support,

May a little something wonderful happen in your day, today..

xx

Hi Miffy,

Good to hear from you again. The 24 week Undetected is great news- your chances of SVR are now excellent.

I'm still concerned about your Hb, but you're the one that has to live with it. Procrit is regularly used in Australia for the Riba anaemia, but it's up to you whether to pursue that.

Let us know the MRI results. Cheers.

Hi Miffy,

So happy you continue to make good progress! The low Hgb is always a tough thing to navigate but it sounds like you've got a plan if it drops again. I don't know why your doctor mentioned Procrit is only for kidney disease, that's not the case at all. I'll include a link to some good patient information on the product. It works very well for us when the Hgb drops, as does a transfusion but Procrit can prevent the need for repeated transfusion in chemotherapy related anemia, which is what our anemia is classed. The important thing is that your Hgb is being monitored closely! Keep up the good work!

Good for you Mzmiffy

I was on the 48 weeks with incivek. My HB tanked about week seven. I had to transfuse 3 or 4 times along with shots of procrit. I finished treatment though. It was worth it so far undetectable since week 4. Go for EOT +6 months in Jan. Hang in there. Good luck with the remainder of your treatment.

PS with a low HB I would keep an eye on the heavy chest feeling, just saying. I had it some what at times along with a rapid pulse all through treatment.

Hi Miffy, glad to hear you continue to be und.  I can identify with the work and being tired.  The tx you're on is not easy.  Your perseverance is an inspiration.  Hoping and praying you find SVR.

Hi everyone,

Hope today is a good one for you.

Thought I would check in as have been both too tired and lazy to focus on anything outside of work. I am pleased to report that my 24 wk vl came back und, especially good given I was dosing incorrectly for the first 4 months.

My HB has climbed to 75, while tokenistic, my GI was somewhat happy to see me continue on 600riba with no further reduction. She gave me my slip for the next bloods and also a new slip for them to cross match my HB and have transfusion if next reading is any lower. when I asked about procrit she told me only used for kidney disease?

Had my first MRI with contrast this week, haven't received any results just yet. My GI mentioned duct/s? were open a month or so ago, so wanted to explore further.

Have had a new sensation of heaviness in chest area but GI doesn't think anything to be alarmed about, certainly hope not.

Take care xx
