 Hi there B161:

I remember you from back in our Incivek days.  This time around should be a whole different story.  Good luck and good to see/read you!  smile

Hi Connie,

Dont lose your desire to treat. Having made it this long with low fibrosis scores and few problems is certainly a blessing. But don't allow that to cause complacency and a belief that nothing will happen. This is a slow developing disease that takes decades to do its damage. Look among our pages, it's the individuals with long histories (some not) that suddenly find themselves dealing with advanced fibrosis and the extra hepatic problems that long term infection cause. I hope you stick to your guns and commit yourself to the fight. The time has never been better! Why not take advantage of a nearly side effect free treatment? Hold onto hope and the desire to finally be Hep C free!!

Looks like patience is the name of the game.... if I wait to long I may change my mind about treating,  been waiting 18 years already..... always been on the fence with low fibrosis and not feeling to bad

Guys, thanks for all of the positive vibes.  Since relapse been waiting for new options and trying to stay in the best shape I can in the meantime.  My perception is that Harvoni approval is going to be a little bit slower than Sovaldi/Olysio.  But I can't wait.  Hopefully, the 99% success rate is a real one!

Darkstar, good to see you posting again. I think you will feel as good with Harvoni as you did with S/O. However, this time you will get to SVR and be done with HCV forever!

Best of luck! Our fingers are crossed for all of you with prior tx experience.

Isiscat,

I guess, but the squeeky wheel......  Fine fine between gentle pushing and being obnoxious.  If pushing gets it quicker I will do it.

Darkstar,

Good to see you on the forum again. You guys keep us posted on obtaining Harvoni. I've been wondering how you're doing and hoping your wait is brief for tx. Good luck.

As you all know, this agent was FDA approved on Friday.  Although I would have expected that it would be available immediately, it is not.  When I spoke to the pharmacist who works at the specialty pharmacy, Mckesson a large distributor does not have it in stock and the insurance company does not have the drug in their system to get prior approval.  Hopefully all of this will be straightened out by the end of the week.

This is going to require pre-authorization in most cases and there will be many patients in line.  I'm expecting a minimum of a 2 week wait between the doctor's appointment and the approval. If it happens sooner great. Pre-authorization=forms and supporting records needed.  At least 3 offices involved: doctor, insurance, pharmacy.  I've waited this long; no reason to stress over a few more weeks or however long it takes.  As long as I know they are working on it and my file didn't accidentally end up on Mars.  biggrin
