Yes if you google the information regarding the "Chinese herb" you are not going to find anything giving the name. They (MFing drug companies) want to keep us from such knowledge.  However, I do know from what modest formal education I have had that one must often go to the original source for information.  The article mentioned an 'abstract' from some liver convention.  The information may be contained there.  In order to be found credible by the scientific community, the information regarding the new compound, efficacy stats, ect. would have to be published somewhere like a scientific journal or the abstract mentioned above.  It is worth checking out the 'literature'...pish posh...to see what the name of the damn herb is.  It is sad really.  If anyone figures out anything please...please reach out to me at trolio2579@gmail.com  Thanks!

Yes, there is a connection with Hep C and gallstones, and if you scroll down through this article you`ll find a bit about that...

http://hepatitiscnewdrugs.blogspot.co.uk/2010/10/hepatitis-c-infection-and-gallstone.html

Bit of a drastic attempt to flush them out though, I suppose there`s no point in asking if it worked?!

Duane, you have a very suspicious mind!!  (Understandably!)

Your Telling Me!!  Hep C and Gallstones, How about a 4 cm stone in a 3cm bladder and I have the pathology report to prove it.

 Sounds painful!

It's always advisable to be sceptical when it comes to miracle cures...snake oil, etc! Yes the flushing of gall stones ended up in 8 hours of agony ! Keyhole surgery got them out, but at the time I never knew I had hcv in me...they should have screened for it years ago when I presented with a fatty liver.

My first thought was how is it dispensed?the Chinese have a storied history of reverse engineering things and then claiming them as their new product. So being the type of person that doesn't always take things at face value, is it possible this is just one of the current drugs that are being found to be successful and repackaged and calling it an herbal remedy?

So if it's in pill form whats not to say it's just a knock off of say sovaldi or one of the others?

Could that be a reason you can't find out what this herb is?

Again just a cynical view point.  And with my usual disclaimer I didn't research it a ton but like to make others say ....hmmmmmm?

Somehow I think the drug giants would rather sell us an $85,000 cure than a $5 bag of tree bark! I have seen a rumour it's from sweet wormwood....best not to mess around just yet. I tried to cure myself of Gall stones by drinking a pint of olive oil....it wasn't pretty & was very painful...I bet Hep c played a part in those forming?

A chem called Micro-Ban'comes " from rain Forrest and rare" used in carpet cleaning does this, but poison to humans, They have it made into bathtubs and use it in Mold restoration, Also Tea-Tree oil has a anti-microbial property. I suspect it is something like one of these organic substances.

Hi Angel, it certainly sounds impressive from this quote...

"A new compound, SBEL1, has the ability to inhibit hepatitis C virus activity in cells at several points in the virus' lifecycle. SBEL1 is a compound isolated from Chinese herbal medicines that was found to inhibit HCV activity by approximately 90%. SBEL1 is extracted from a herb found in certain regions of Taiwan and Southern China."

I`ve done a fairly quick google search and couldn`t find out which herb is actually used either, although I`m guessing the scientists doing the investigations want to keep that information to themselves.

I wouldn`t recommend a DIY attempt at self treating with it in any case, even if you do find out which herb it is!  smile

SBEL 1 is meant to be a substance in an un-named Taiwanese/Chinese plant. The substance is meant to kill off HCV by 90%, but finding out what the herb is has proved impossible so far.
