I'll add my two cents, too.  I just had a tooth pulled in September. I am not a smoker, but was also told not to use straws in addition to not smoking. If you are having several pulled at once, please help your healing by not smoking. Not sure on your current platelet levels, but low platelets will slow the healing, too. Give your body and gums a break and follow the dentist's suggestions.  Oh... and once you are cleared to use the oral syringe it will become your new best friend. Seems like everything you eats ends up in the tooth sockets. Soup is a good to eat, too. Good luck, I only had one pulled and it really wasn't too bad.

Hey,

just want to give my two cents worth. I smoke and I wear dentures due to past drug use rotting my teeth. Try not to smoke for at least a few hours after having a tooth pulled. When a tooth is pulled a small blood clot forms in the tooth socket. Any sucking motion such as using straws or smoking can cause the blood clot to dislodge and then you have dry socket. This is very painful and you just kind of have to live with it. I got one on the last teeth pulled. Very painful. If you have to smoke, suck gently. You don't want to end up with dry socket. Good luck with the procedure. I was very lucky in that my dentist gave me all the shoots I wanted. I'd just raise my hand and he'd stop and give me more so that part wasn't too bad. But try not to smoke for at least a few hours. My mouth hurts just reading your post.

Hey Josh,

Good luck with that tomorrow. Ugh! I've had my own share of dental issues and wish there were more dental health options for people. Insurance for the private sector is woefully inadequate. Be thankful you were able to get this done free of charge, that's always a good thing!

Hopefully you won't have too much post op pain. Be cautious with the Tylenol, a little is fine but as you're already aware, it's not the friendliest long term drug for the liver. Sounds like you know what to expect, so take care of yourself and let us know how it goes!

getting all my upper teeth or whats left of them ripd out tommorow... sounds like a good time... hope they are very generous with the novacane....

spose to not smoke for a day or 3 ... proably will anyway... itll take a good week or more to initialy heal then months to really heal...

ima try to eat fish sticks...chilli..and eggs and drink insure.... see how that works... they gave me hydrocodone.... and then i also have acetaminophen 500s on stand by

i prefer advil.. or bayer... cause i heard acetominophen is hard on your liver but then again i guess it all is right ?  says to take 1 every 4 hours so thats 2.5 grams if you werent sleeping well...

im sure theyll give me more antibiotics too.....

4 grams is considered overdose territory but we all know theres people who have taken way more..... but having hep c Liver damage at anything other then a slow rate is not my thing ... so i will use caution and hopefully not take to much..... dont know if i will miss work or not havent decided if iLL take 1 day off or not....  oh well my theory is if you can walk you can work ....

proably overhyping it.. itll be less then i think or itll be way worse thats always how things go....  itll be good for the long run... ALL FREE by the way... denture is ready will go to wal mart get efferdent even though i wont need for awhile... ...will swish with salt water... they will use sutchers or stitches .... so hopefully oozing blood will be minimal.... blood dont bother me.... but i dont want to lose to much or choke on it you know :)

ILL let you know how it goes Everyone have a good monday ......
