I know an excellent Hepatologist in Vancouver, BC, Gracie.   I don't know where you are located in Canada but if you are interested PM me and I will give you his info.

If I had the money, I'd buy it myself and just be done with it. I sure hope they don't make it hard to get. My only issue is the doctors. Where I live there is a real shortage and it takes forever to get in to see them, and they may not want to take this on if they are too busy. Not really knowing the symptoms etc. where it's so new. I won't give up though. Even if I have to go to a different province, id do it.

Excellent!  You will be the first Canadian on this forum's Harvoni train.  Perhaps other countries will be getting access to it sooner than anticipated too!

57K you say?  If any Americans are paying cash they should just hop over the border to Canada (which is where many US citizens buy their drugs already).  It is manufactured by a US company so shouldn't be a problem with customs.  Not that there are many Americans who have that kind of cash lying around in this economy but just in case.   And the US dollar is still worth something in Canada.  biggrin

He seemed to think that I could. He said once my doctor provides the application that they would work with the insurance companies to help get approval. And the cost is around $57,000 so way less than the S/O combo. I'm excited and I'm going to call my doctor Monday, and fax him and mail him a letter and tell him I want treatment and I want it NOW!!! Let's get the show on the road. I honestly thought it would take a couple more years to get here. Very excited!

Not really sure about criteria, the only thing he said for sure is I had to be genotype 1.

Hi Gracie:

I saw this last week--that a Notice of Compliance was issued for Canada--but not knowing how the Canadian Health Care System works wasn't sure what that means in terms of Canadians actually getting the drugs.  So, will Canadian payers have be criteria for who to treat first or will everyone have access? Does this mean you can start it soon?   That would sure be great!

It's approved in Canada. How did this happen so fast?  I called and he said the insurance companies should start approving in 1-3 months. Now to get my slow dum dum doctor to get on the ball and get me on the program. This stuff will work - I can feel it!
