Almost there Thom! Good work. The inter/riba put you in a "bubble/fog" that makes it hard to communicate with others. Unless they have been there they won't understand. There were people that were good and understanding while  I was on treatment and then there were like you said people that just didn't care. Some even seemed to take advantage of my "mental state" from the drugs and get off on what I had to put up with. The good people will get Christmas cards for the bad ones all I can do is light a candle for them...........and then throw it through there window. Just kidding.

It will all pass a while after your done. I had bad joint pain also even before treatment. I finished May 17th. Today I got up had breakfast walked two miles to a spot where I practice Tai Chi between two 200 year old trees and walked back home. When I get up in the AM my legs are still stiff like there wood but they get better as I move around. Hang in there It will all seem like a bad dream when its over.

Good to hear from you, Thom, and I`m so pleased your tx is almost finished..you`ve done well!

Oh yes, a lot of us here understand what it feels like to suffer from the psychological side effects that often accompany Peg/Riba based tx, and it`s really not nice.  I found that aspect the most difficult sx to cope with when I was on tx, even with antidepressants to take the edge off things.  By the end I`d become a virtual recluse and didn`t even answer the phone...I was too irritable to speak to anyone!

But once you`ve finished and the drugs start working their way out of your system you`ll soon get back to being yourself, remember all this is only temporary.  And with such good progress so far it`s looking very promising for you.

I`m glad you`ve told us how you`re doing, and please keep in touch, that`s what we`re here for!  smile

Thank you so much. I believe that you genuinely have had the same experience that I have had. I found it extremely frustrating when people would ask how I was feeling on the treatment and I would do my best to explain how I felt, and most people would respond "I'm glad that your doing well" and really didn't listen to what I had said at all. And then would want something from me.

Oh yes, the inter/RIBA world of itchy, bitchy, sleepy, grumpy, achy, crybaby, spaced out hell... Lol. Thank goodness the newbies will never have to deal with that. My first round wasn't too bad, but the last one really caused joint pains that lasted for a couple of months passed, and stomach issues that still bother me. BUT you have cleared the Virus which makes it all worthwhile. All the symptoms will start to ease and you can live a healthier life! Good job on getting through it and best of luck for healing quickly!

Thom, many here  can understand in part, what you're going through.  Sometimes the path to the final destination can be rocky.  Hang tough, with each day you are closer to your journey's end.   Be well.

One good benefit that I believe that I already am receiving is that I haven't felt joint pain for at least one month. I had been getting just crippling joint pain that was steadily growing worse for years and now it is gone.

I apologize for not keeping in touch here but these drugs really had me in a mental funk. And when I would describe how I felt to those who asked, no one really listened or paid attention, which caused me to withdraw even further.

I really have empathy for the suffering that those patients before me have undergone and I realize just how happy those people must for the recent technological advancements.

Good to hear you're nearing the end of Tx Thom! We're all thrilled you had the opportunity to Tx and Isis is absolutely right, the addition of Sovaldi gives you an excellent chance to celebrate SVR in the coming months. I understand the feeling of wondering if waiting would have been better, the week I ended 28 weeks of the old triple treatment, they released Sovaldi. I know what feeling like you have been pulled through a key hole backwards is like, and that's no fun at all! But what is fun, is knowing you're done with treatment now and you are currently undetectable. The odds are really in your favor that SVR will be yours in the near future. That my friend is worthy of an early celebration!! Hang in there, once done, these drugs will clear your system and you'll start to feel much better!

Hi Thom:

Been wondering how you were holding up.  Your tx is almost over now, thank goodness, and you made it through.

The Sovaldi kicks up the success rates of the Int/Riba combo so the odds for SVR are definitely in your favor now.

Don't be a stranger.  People here like to know how you are doing.  :)

I just gave myself an interferon injection. A week from today will be my last injection and the end of treatment. At 6 weeks or so my viral load was tested and it was zero. With hind sight it would have been better to wait for the new treatment that was approved on October 10. The combination of Pegasus an Ribivirin has had a substantial psychological effect on me. I have withdrawn from contact with people, had a basically negative mindset, and have had short occasional bouts of crying.

I can't imagine 48 weeks of treatment with a 10-30% chance of success.

I hope that the new drug is readily available around the world.
