Cujo, Snidely, dragon - an HCC virus by any other name stinks the same! Hopefully we will both be saying goodbye to it soon. ~ Rudi

I think of my virus as Cujo (from Stephen King). About the time I found out I had this, reports were out as to the meds in the pipeline, so I never thought of it as a dragon, more like a mad dog.

Went to the beach this morning, took a few iphone videos to tide me over, came home and took the first dose of S/O. Told old Snidely Whiplash his days were numbered. Checked my numbers in Skewed's groovy VL calculator. Felt really good about it.

Two hours later saw the news that three people in Japan on Olysio had died from hyperbilirubinemia. Stopped feeling good. Started researching and learned that folks of East Asian decent take 100 mg of Olysio per day, while caucasians take 150 mg. The FDA info said this is because their livers are smaller and they make less of the enzyme required to process the drug. Sent the info to my gastroenterologist and will talk to him about it tomorrow.

I am only 5 ft tall and pretty small. My liver is so little the biopsy doc couldn't get the needle in the tiny left lobe. Looks like bilirubin levels tend to spike @ week two so I'm not going to worry tonight.

Feel really bad for those people who thought they were going to have a new life.
