I certainly pray for Duane. He is a good guy that needs prayers that things will (&I have the faith for him) work out. It is hard to be sick & ppl don't show compassion. I went thru that at work & it if wasn't for  these great ppl in here I would have lost it. lol  Duane is one of those that encouraged me as well as many others. This forum educated me so thoroughly on things I problay could not have understood if the doc told me. So Admin kudos to you & the others that show support. That is one reason I stay. To give my testimony that IT is hard to go thru but good things can happen. Cinnamon Girl, pls tell him we love him & pray for him. We all have to stick together & support. & pray!!

Got to keep the faith & good attitude that all will be dragon slayers.. now go away dragon. smile

Peace out

Taz

So true, Wayne, and well said.  Duane is a truly remarkable person--one in a million.  For anyone who takes the time to really get to know him you will know that his signature line isn't just words; he really lives them: "In the 10K lakes State It's not about us but those around us."

I'm sure Duane will return assuming this board continues to be a community where he can receive--but in his case mostly give--genuine support.  I think we are all anxious to see what changes October 10th brings, not only to individual SVR rates, but also to communities of HCV patients. Let's all make him proud, and when he is feeling ready, we will see his clever avatar again.  (That shady mouse is still on the loose, Duane!)

We you, Duane (a/k/a "the Higlander").  OOO

I haven't contributed much in recent months, but have continued to read through most of what is posted. I've found Duane's contributions particularly valuable, especially given the gravity of his illness. It's a marvel the equanimity and  good humor he's been able to sustain through all that he has going on. There is much to learn from those with more advanced disease and we all benefit from their presence on the forum. I'd be willing to bet it's a delicate balancing act for Duane, though, and can certainly understand him needing to step away from anything that isn't conducive to winning his various battles. The contentious nonsense that some threads devolve into can't be helpful. I tend to tune them out and tune back in only when I need a good laugh. I'm not at all sure I could do that were I in Duane's shoes.

Hope his health improves and hope he comes back.

We all have one thing in common here and should stick together in these worrisome times. Frustration and fear does get the better of us from time to time, and a person who is angry with their insurance company, government or dear old Gilead might occasionally vent their spleen at another person while not really meaning to (my wife shouts at me a lot and it means nothing!). But we are all in the same boat, okay, some of those boats are sinking, some will be patched up with Interferon & others will be cruisers running on Harvoni! But we all know how each other has felt & experienced these strong, scary emotions over this HCV thing.

I'm still pretty new here. But, Duane is a great person. I don't tend to read posts that don't really pertain to what I have going on. I leave that to people with better understanding then what I have. Having said this, I haven't seen the disrespect or anything of the like. And I hope I am not part of his reasons. I hope nothing but the best for Duane and his Family. He is a great inspiration for me. If you're able to speak with him.... Let Him Know I care for him and Pray as much as I can for all my friends and people in this forum.

I've been travelling and haven't seen the last few days of forum posts. Not quite sure what happened-I certainly wish Duane the best. He has been a valued friend to all and his strength and wisdom will truly be missed. He may take a break from the forum, but hope for positive things in his future will remain with us all. I look forward to his return!

I'm not sure about the negativity that Duane found, but I know that 8 years ago I had to step away.  I had saturated myself until there was nothing left except this wretched disease and it  wasn't necessarily what I found on-line here or other forums, I was just very tired from thinking about HCV - all the time.

I hope Duane finds some peace - you have to chase it like a waterfall ~ not always where you think they are, but chase you do..; it's part of the adventure.  After spending some time with me I found I could handle everything else.

Thanks everyone for your comments and good wishes for Duane, I`ll pass them on to him and I`m sure he`ll be pleased that so many of you are thinking about him.  I really hope he`ll be back too, he`s been a great support and an inspiration to many of us here.  I`ll let you know if I hear any further updates from him.

Mugsy, I`m sorry to hear you`ve been thinking of leaving too and I must say I`m glad you didn`t figure out how to unsubscribe!  Please do stay around, and we`ll all do our best to make sure this forum continues to moves forward in a more harmonious way.

Thanks again, Jill

I will miss Duane's posts. I do hope he knows that there are members here who appreciate his wisdom and points of view and looked forward reading this posts. I do hope he can send updates through you, Jill. There are some wonderful people on this forum but it sometimes seems they are getting out numbered.

I also considered deleting my account as I do not need any more drama in my life nor do I need to hear mean spirited people pick at each other. But I couldn't figure out how to unsubscribe. As I wrote to one of you, I plan on just lurking for a while but this post was too important to ignore.

Best wishes to you, Duane.

Mugsy

I do think this is the nicest internet forum I've ever personally been on. I could name a few where they go at each other pretty good.  I appreciate that admins keep on top of things well here and try to foster a constructive, welcoming environment.

I can understand Duane wanting to step back and take a break, and I hope he knows our prayers are with him and understands the rationale behind any petty bickering, and can forgive us.  Hoping the very best for you Duane!

I'm saddened to see Duane gone and have hope that his spirit strengthens and his health improves. When that happens, I want him to know he will always be welcomed back with open arms. He has taught me a lot about compassion and selflessness, for that I'm truly thankful. I saw this quote and believe it's something he taught me to understand. Be well "D".....

Hi,    I get it.  The things Ive read lately,  make want me to just give up. Im tired, confuse, and saddened.  Ive noticed folks here seem to be alot sicker than in the past few years .  As an ex RN  ,who has tranfused blood into cirrhotic pts just as fast as coffee ground like blood passed out thier rectums, I can see why the sicker are 1st in line. And every time I cough, I have to wonder if blood will come out my mouth ; I understand why the sickest are 1st in line. And all you woman, you can get vaginal varices. And a woman as orange as a carrot, who looks 10 months preg from ascites isnt cute ; men either . So again, I understand why the sickest are 1st in line. Im moving up in the line faster than I would like : F4 compensated. Our biggest problem seems to be is where does the damn line start. Once the line is formed it may start to move, maybe slowly at first, but it should pick up speed. So hold on tight , "It's going to be a bumpy ride! " Oat meal is good for cirrhotics, so eat up. Im backing off the site alittle  , but not shutting down..... Michaele

My thoughts and prayers are with Duane and his family. I so understand what he is saying about the conflict and negativity. Differences of opinion are one thing but when you start sniping at each other that is another. I personally am not chasing Harvoni but I go into those threads for two reasons. One, at some point I may have to and want to gather knowledge for future use. The other is to give a hug or support to someone new if need be. I saw a comment the other day that basically said if you don't like this go somewhere else. Not right, period.

The other thing that is making me see red (Riba red) is the disrespect being paid to the Admin. They have a delicate balancing act here and it is very evident that they work very had at it. If we didn't have them this place would be bonkers in no time. I personally want to thank the Admin and let you know you have my full respect. If I get out of line I would expect you to set me straight.

Hi everyone,

I`ve been in contact with Duane (Dzdayscomin) and he would like me to let you all know that he is taking a break from the forum and so has deleted his membership account with us.

As many of you are aware, Duane is struggling with serious health problems at the moment and although he`s very thankful for the support and help he`s received here, and from some members in particular, he`s been finding that there`s been rather a lot of conflict and negativity on the forum lately which is not conducive to his wellbeing.

He does hope to be back at some point once things have settled down.

He`s also asked me to share this quote "seek to understand, then seek to be understood" and hopes that it will encourage members to show respect to each other when conflicts of opinion arise.

Thanks, Jill
