Hi again Castraaa, here`s some information about missed doses of Sovaldi and ribavirin which I hope you find helpful.

Firstly, from the Patient Information details published by Gilead, Scroll down to the section titled `How Should I Take Sovaldi?`

"If you miss a dose of SOVALDI, take the missed dose as soon as you remember the same day. Do not take more than 1 tablet (400 mg) of SOVALDI in a day. Take your next dose of SOVALDI at your regular time the next day."

https://www.gilead.com/~/media/Files/pdfs/medicines/liver-disease/sovaldi/sovaldi_patient_pi.pdf

And this is the advice if you miss a dose of ribavirin (Copegus), scroll down to the section titled `If you forget to take Copegus` on page 5..

"Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember and take the next dose at the normal time."

http://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/PIL.11754.latest.pdf

Although it sounds as through you probably didn`t lose the whole dose anyway.  And bear in mind that all prescribed drugs have a margin of error included within the required doseage to take into account this sort of situation, although it`s always best to aim for 100% compliance of course.

I hope the nausea eases up for you soon, best of luck!

castraa,

when push got to shove, i'd take organic vanilla flavored

soy milk & add some coconut oil to it in the blender.

try it, especially if you like vanilla ice cream or coconut.

the fat healthy fat content will keep anything down, at least for me it did.

Hi Castraaa,

I had stomach troubles at first, as well. Some yogurt and a banana did the trick for me. Took the evening riba with dinner. As Jill mentioned, it can take a little while to adjust to the meds. Clear it with your doc first, but you'll probably be fine taking something to help you sleep.

Be well and welcome! wink

Ok im glad I don't have to worry about the possibility of partially vomited medication haha. But yea I'm definitely going to make sure I eat something a lil more substantial next time... And I'm really hoping my body gets used to the meds, am I able to take anything for sleeping troubles I have a really hard time falling asleep and getting a good nights sleep. Can I take melatonin or Benadryl or something to get a good nights rest?

Hi Castraaa, welcome!

Yes, it`s important to take your riba pills with food, even a small amount of something, whatever you can fancy.  Ribavirin can often cause nausea but it`s worse on an empty stomach. I relied on bananas, plain unsweetened yoghurt and poached eggs when I couldn`t face anything else.  Even a glass of milk and a dry biscuit.  You often find that the nausea eases up once your body has got more used to the meds.

You don`t need to panic over one missed dose, or rather one thrown up dose, that happens to a lot of people, but try to deal with the nausea so that you can keep your pills down.

Best of luck, I`m glad you found us!  smile

Not very long maybe 30-45 mins. And yea I'm already bad about eating breakfast so usually I just wake up and eat a bowl of cereal before taking meds but today I just really wasn't feeling it. The first day I took these I didn't eat at all and holy sh*t did I pay for it... I figured this morning something is better than nothing but turns out a lot of something is better then just a lil something. before starting treatment I was so worried about the possibility of all these crazy side effects, but so far Im not experiencing much other than sick when I don't eat .. So on the bright side I at least have that going for me

That's a bummer! How long between the medication and throwing up? Try some weak tea, sodacrackers or toast. I ate bananas like they were going out of style. I think it's always best to eat something versus nothing. These drugs can do some unpleasant things go your stomach! Might be little you can do today unfortunately. I remember all too well how awful I felt some days! Hang in there!

I'm supposed to eat w the ribiviron, I should have eaten more for sure so it's my fault I feel awful right now, I'm just wondering how bad it is that I may have thrown up some of the medication.. And is anyone experiencing loss of appetite? I may just have to start downing a glass of milk if I can't get myself to eat enough in the morning before taking these...

I don't know about your specific medicine but I was told to take mine with a significant amount of food. I'm taking mine right now with a banana, glass of milk, and toast. Usually I will have hash browns and eggs mixed together.

i took my ribiviron and sovaldi this morning, I don't think I ate enough because I became super sick and I think I threw up my meds, how bad is that? I didn't have an appetite so I tried forcing some cereal down but don't think it was enough. I still feel super nauseated
