Happy Birthday Robin!  Great news about your biop. and you will never need to have another one.  Although they don't want to treat you now, who knows, there may be something even better than Harvoni down the line.  I would not give up finding out the reason for your high ammonia levels though.  Good luck.

Hey Robin,

That cracks me up, the Butt camera, lol! When you schedule it you might request a Gut camera too, the ol' Gut n' Butt Scope! Seriously, an endoscopy is often scheduled at the same time as a Colonoscopy. They look for varicies which occur in HCV patients and those with advancing liver disease in general. Might as well request it and really set her off.

thank you all for the birthday wishes. I checked my online medicaid coverage and the nurse is right. they wont pay for it unless im a fibrosis lvl 3.5 or higher and to be honest I understand that other people need it more then me. But i just figured that they'd want to nip it in the bud and snap it out early to prevent more health problems down the line. I was checking on what states might do it and even thought about moving. but, eh it's whatever... As far as the ammonia levels.... They still have no clue but she told me to rest assured that it's not H.E. and that it can elevate 10xs higher then the highest theyve seen and it wont be fatal. (I'm not resting assured dammit). So again I mentioned a butt camera and the like to see if I might be holding on to urea... She seemed turned off by the fact I even brought it up. But when I prodded her more she said to call monday and she'd see if my G.i. wants to schedule one (they better cause this craps gotta end)

Happy Birthday, glad you made it through your biopsy and got good results. What a present. That's so cool. Take care and just sit back for now. You'll get tx soon enough.

Happy Birthday Robin!

What does the dr. say about the ammonia level? Also, the nurse may not be the best person to advise you on your insurance benefits. I'm sure she was trying to be helpful but don't let her comments steer you one way or the other.

lol yes I am over the "rough" biopsy. I am way happy for the fact that I am very low on the scale of things. I talked to Janice my G.I. nurse, and she said my insurance won't cover my treatment. I completely understand, the worse off come first. I'm fine with that. Today is my birthday.... I kinda knew I'd get a great present!

What a great gift. Happy Birthday to you! Glad you are healed from your biopsy.

Good news, Robin.  It would be extremely unlikely for a person who isn't cirrhotic to have HE and cirrhosis is very rare in your age group.

Take good care of your health and you should be fine for many years.  If I was F-1 I would not consider treating right now.  The tx will be stress-free, short, safe, and have just about perfect SVR rates for tx naives within a few years.  It could even be delivered in a single shot.  Don't live your life in the shadow of HCV if you don't have to.  JMO.

That's great news regarding the HE Robin!! Congrats on that one! Don't beat yourself up too much on the fibrosis stage. That's great news all by itself! Stage 1 may not open you right up to Harvoni treatment but it definitely provides you with the knowledge that you have time to wait. Fibrosis is a slow process and they will get this thing figured out soon enough and you'll get started. Now they can concentrate on finding out what's causing the elevated Ammonia levels and get that taken care of. There isn't any bad news at all in my opinion Robin. One day at a time...
