Thanks for the input.  I only had rash during treatment if I scratched, but, I sure itched.  Your right about the showers and I took them a lot and also used baby moisturizing lotion (aveeno), washed with dead sea salts soap too.  I still have heartburn easily which only started the last two weeks of treatment.  The ribavirin started bothering my stomach after the ev ending dose in the last two weeks.  I did test "non detected" at end of week 11 though, now I am waiting for the the February test to come around to see if I am SVR12.

When I was on sovaldi and riba I found it helpful to take cold showers for rash and used only baby wash and shampoo. I did for several months after and I never really got rashes and the rare ones I did get improved with the cold showers and mild soap. I did experience fatigue for quite awhile and I made sure I took time to rest even if I had to miss work. The nausea got extra bad the last couple of weeks of tx but ended within a week of my EOT. These are powerful meds and can stay in your body for quite awhile. Just take good care of yourself, eat lots of fresh veggies and fruit, get rest and mild exercise to increase energy. This will pass but it may take time. Just hunker down and wait. Good luck and I totally relate to the yuckiness after EOT.

Hi Tess,

Ribavirin has it's own pharmacokinetics, irrespective of whether it's used with Interferon or not. Certainly some side effects e.g. the anaemia, are worse when combined with Interferon, as Interferon has a suppressant effect on the bone marrow.

Riba side effects may continue for some months after EOT, and it takes up to 6 months to be cleared from the body. Cheers.

It seems that all info about ribavirin after treatment alway has it paired with interferon.  Now that it is prescribed with sovaldi  for Geno 2 that is still the case.  I finished my 12 wk course in November and have bouts of feeling bad or like I am coming down with something. Even skin issues on and off yet among other manifestations. Does anyone know how long it takes to clear sovaldi and ribavirin from the system and feel cured.  Makes me wonder as this combo is still quite new and documentation at this point is almost only from testing.  I have read on this site that ribavirin can take up to 6 months to be purged completely, does this also apply when not used with interferon?

Greatly appreciate any input.
