Thanks Tig, Cute Picture!

It is odd the way they calculate the numbers. the lab is in another state and took awhile to come back and they report Log 1.7. Then once back and the hospital I guess they do the math and look at past labs. I didn't know they weren't doing 8 week labs. I found that info here.

Have a safe fun New Years Eve

Hi Jen,

I'm not sure what they told you but I can tell you this from your numbers. First the log reference is simply a different way of expressing the viral load. When they start by saying you have a 13 million viral load and now it is down to 50 tells me that you have had a 5.41 log reduction in your viral load or count. If you take the number 50 and apply it to a log number (calculate 50 into a Log number) that number is 1.7. Using a Log number is confusing and isn't as easy to understand as "50". So don't let it worry you. From this report your viral load was 50 when this test was done. I'm betting that by now it's undetected and your next VL will indicate that. Some doctors aren't doing routine VL tests because these drugs are so effective. They anticipate that  everyone will achieve an undetected VL during treatment and are more interested in the results at EOT and thereafter. That doesn't mean it's easy for us as patients to wait and the doctors would serve us better by realizing that.

Try to relax and realize that everything is looking very good. I'm sure your next test will be the UND you're looking for! Hang in there! It's going to be a Happy New Year for you!

I thought i should be getting a VL at 8 weeks and really wanted to see because i wasn't UND at 4 weeks but then I found this. I think i fulfilled the criteria for the 4 week draw but Its all greek to me

so I started around 13 million and then got to

Hepatitis C Qnt by PCR IntUnit/mL 50 IntUnit/mL

I guess that means VL 50. IDK for sure

Hepatitis C Qnt by PCR Log 1.7 R1 log Int Unit

Documentation of repeat viral load at treatment week 4, week 12 and week 24 if applicable. HCV RNA Viral Load at treatment week 4 should demonstrate a minimum of > 2log IU/ml drop.
