Hi guys and gals.... It's been a minute since I was on last. I do apologize, I have been moving around a ton. I went to Colorado in search of better health care and.... well... it didn't work out. So I moved to Iowa....cry So, when I moved here 2 weeks ago I filed for my medicaid... This state... As in Iowa, is a stupid state and should resign as being a state at all. Ok, well here's Robin's Rant..... I filed for my medicaid and the lady I talked to told me that they were at least 60 days behind. So that means I have to wait 60 days for Rx's that have been integral to keeping me alive? She's like "sir I'm sure you'll figure something out" REALLY? WTF? even Missouri wasn't this slow and basically delinquent in helping people with what they need... It's not as if I have an application process to forego... Having SSI means that I'm just a push through.... Any way my Rant is this... How to I pay for 1800 mls of lactulose ($270.00) and Barbital ($82.60)? The lady again brushed me off and told me to call some churches... WOW.... that's all I can say that's constructive.....
Any way guys and gals.... how's Duane? And Tig? And Cin. girl? and the gang of the usuals? Hope everyone is doing well, and thriving for the new year... I hope the holidays have been treating everyone well. Sorry I haven't been active the last 2 months just been hell.... Oh I should mention that I have been refilling my scrips in Missouri and shipping them to my location.... seems cheaper than the b.s. here still cost quite a bit cause as those of us who know lactulose weighs more than water on that end and 1800 ml is huge to send.... like 20 beans a month in just shipping costs not to mention the barbital which is cheap compared too... lol but as we all know I seem to find myself in trouble all the dang time....
again, Miss you guys and Gals and thanx for being here for another episode of.... ROBIN"S RANTS lol smile

Robin, have you already been determined disabled by SSA or Medicaid?   Most states have time standards that must be met for Medicaid application processing.  If you haven't already been determined disabled, that is the problem.   In most states the same people do the disability determination for SSI and/or Medicaid.  Unless you have what is considered a "presumptive disability" the process can be long and drawn out. Usually requires physician documentation etc.   If you already get SSI/Medicaid it's typically just a matter of contacting SSA to have it transferred to the state you're in.   Navigating thru this stuff could make a person crazy.  Then once eligible trying to navigate thru the managed care is almost insane.   I know it's frustrating.  Instead of train hopping, you are hoop jumping.  cry    Take care.

Hi Robin,

Just wanted to say hello to you too, and I`m sorry to hear about all the problems you` ve been having getting your prescriptions, what a nightmare!  Tig`s suggestion of going to an ER sounds sensible, and I do hope you can get something sorted out soon.  It must be exhausting for you having to chase round and move from place to place just to try and get the medical attention you need and should be entitled to.

Keep in touch and let us know how it goes, and feel free to have a good rant here any time!

Best of luck and I hope this year goes much better for you!  smile

Hey Robin,

Good to hear from you Brother! With that I'm sorry to hear about all the hassles from the state conspiracies you're having to deal with! Can you go to an ER and get faster response times from state assistance agencies? They might be able to provide some power to your voice and help advocate for you. The doctors may be able to provide evidence of your immediate need for care. If their own offices can make some calls, or point you toward someone with an idea of how the process works, you might see some faster response times. It's never easy getting restarted in a new state, but I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. I'm glad you're able to get what you need from MO., that's got to be a relief even if you're having no luck at all where you're at.

I wish you luck and hope you get some action soon. Keep in touch when you can, we love hearing from you. Stay safe out there! Happy New Year to you too!!

Tig
