Hi Pepper,

Interesting post, I've never heard of this type of seed before. I'll have to do some reading on the subject. The only thing I will add, is to remind people considering this, they should remember that while on treatment, to avoid any type or kind of supplementation. It can alter drug function and test results during Tx. However, if this works as described, it could be beneficial pre and post treatment. I always check with my Hepatologist before starting anything even remotely connected with liver health. Thanks for the info.

Making Alpistle Milk Quick NO SOAK Method, Rev. 7/17/14 , pronounced (al-PEES-t'lay)

Alpistle seed (canary seed) pulp contains the enzyme lipase, which breaks down fat in the liver- a problem with those who drink or have HepatitisC. This is a folk remedy from Mexico for alcoholics. Sold in animal feed and seed stores. Buy by the pound. HCV GT3 is particularly susceptible to a fatty liver. So much so, it can interfere with the latest FIBROSCAN ultrasonic imaging used to assess stage of fibrosis.

If you have a Nutri-bullet or similar high speed emulsifier/ grinder like Vitamix, Ninja, etc then try this. It only takes about 5 minutes.

The bulk seed has dust, a fibrous husk, and the husk has silicate fibers (glass-like fibers) that must be separated from the pulp which will go into solution and form a milk.

This is to make 3 days of clean milk @ 2 servings per day. Keep refrigerated.

  1. Put 2 cups of dry seed into a large stainless steel wire flour sifter and shake off any loose dust particles over the trash can.

  2. Add dry seed to the 16 ounce Nutri-bullet container (or emulsifier) and grind to separate the husk materials and the pulp.

  3. If you have a Nutri-bullet, add purified or distilled water to the Fill line, if you have a larger capacity emulsifier, add 16 oz .

  4. Emulsify until you see the milk go into solution.

  5. Then pour through a series of strainers removing the  debris until it looks like pure milk as follows:

  6. Start with the  large metal screen sifter (also called a flour sifter)

  7. Then a smaller metal mesh strainer (used to make fine soup bases)

  8. Then use a very fine nylon mesh coffee filter ( available anywhere, paper filters will not work)

  9. Pour as many times through the filters as required from one glass to another (I use 20 oz styrofoam) until the milk pours through the finest filter without clogging up or slowing down.

  10. Now you have a 3 day concentrate of clean milk. Pour it equally into 3 glasses (for 3 days) and top each off with distilled or purified water.

  11. A little residual grey stuff may settle to the bottom- dont drink it!!

Note: This revision grinds the dry seed before adding water.  Wet seed  is less efficient and creates a mush which does not efficiently separate the husk from the pulp.
