Harvoni is prescribed for both GT 1A and B for the same time frame. The reason for the different subtype determination could be the fault of the testing procedure 15 years ago in Thailand. I've heard of that happening before but to my knowledge it's uncommon, especially with the accuracy of tests today.

The reason that I ask this is that my original Dx was in Thailand during a routine physical exam and in the year 2000, I got the biopsy [ouch] and their determination of my genotype was 1a.

fast forward to Jan this year and the VA says that I have 1b and starting me on Harvoni tomorrow.  Should I assume that the Thai Dx was wrong 15 years ago?? and would TX for 1b be the same as 1a??

Thanks in advance ............
