I agree, if you can get on a GS5816 trial, I'd do it. All else being minimal and your doctor says you can safely wait, then it would be well worth considering, both from an effective standpoint, low SFX and shortened length of treatment. Just my 2 cents!

Rich, The trial results i have seen on S/5816 looks really good. very high svr rate.   I did 16 weeks s/riba  and the riba is toughf.  If i could get into a s/5816 trial it would be like winning the mega lottery.  If they offer you a spot in the trial  do it.  Gilead  takes care of its participants.   I would do it in a heart beat.  RC

I have been looking at getting into a trial of this sort, the lady in charge of the trials for University of Penn hospital in Philadelphia has been in contact with me over the past week and has all my info. She thinks they may be an immediate opening, if not one is starting within the next month. I always viewed trials with an aprehensive approach but this combo of S/gs-5816 looks super promising. Being a geno-3a, I would have to treat with S/R for 24 weeks now( which ive been fighting for 5 months, to get approval.) Obviously the thought of riba for 24 has got me nervous even at a fairly young age and good health. Its not that i wouldnt want it if given to me today, but the thought of a virtualy sx free tx for only 12 wks with a better svr rate has got me thinking of waiting for trial or til it actually comes out!
