Again, thank you all for your support.

Now, on to the next battle.  This event was all tied up with my husband's disability insurance (not SS) through his work.  Now we have grievances filed and lawyers to talk to.  I think it will all work out for the best.  Of course, now that my issue has been resolved, I feel great.  His is not a life threatening issue -- his disability check will still come as far as we know for quite a while -- but still disgusting and demoralizing for him.  Suffice it to say, don't work for any company owned by E.W. Scripps.  It's a long and involved story and relevant to this forum only in that it caused this bull**** to occur with my meds. But now I'm psychologically strong again and can help him fight this battle.

Hi Fem,

WOOHOO!!!!!  If we were in the same room we would be doing the happy dance together! I'm so glad this worked out for you. Now you can relax and get this beast destroyed for good. I can read the relief in your post! Well done Fem, well done...

I am a big Sons fan and got a kick out of it when I realized Tig was using my nickname. Ha! But the origin of mine is my years of employment as a Tig Welder combined with my year of birth. Not terribly clever but it's easy to remember!

Good luck Fem, I'm so happy I could help. Let us know how things progress. We're all rooting for you!

I looked at the PAN Foundation. There's no way we would qualify for that.  However, I'll keep hoping for AbbVie to approve.  I told them we can pay something if we must, just not $84,000. They said the cost would be picked up if approved because they don't want anyone worrying about paying for it.  Too late. I'm already worrying.

By the way, is your Screen name Tig because you watched Sons of Anarchy?

Hi Fem,

I hope this works out in your favor and they contact you with some good news soon. Do contact the other assistance programs on our list, every one of them if you must. I know that just because Abbvie says no to 100% assistance, there are programs available through the others that may pick up your copays, etc. Just keep trying and if I can help, let me know.

Regarding the action of these new protocols, I believe you are absolutely right. They seem to immediately start the process of viral destruction and that relates to the almost overnight changes in how you feel. Stay positive, you're going to find a way. Good luck!

Tig,

Today Abbevie told me we made too much money to be financially supported. I told them that just because we had a good income (not rich by any measure) that doesn't mean we can afford an $84,000 drug.  They are dealing with it as a special circumstance because I already started treatment and will expedite the decision.  Today my nurse said she would advocate for me as well. She also told me she's seen a lot of different avenues taken by ProCeed in order to provide assistance.  I'm very upset and am quite stressed about this new development.

Thanks for your response. I appreciate it.  I'll investigate the PAN Foundation.

What I find quite interesting about all of this, is that I can feel the drugs working.  I'm just a tiny bit foggy and lose my energy at about 4 pm.  However, underneath all of that I feel energetic and focused, which tells me how much the virus was creeping into my whole body and sapping my strength.

Fem

FM,

I really pressed her on the cut off issue and she insisted that there was none. I know Gilead mentioned it to a few here, but Abbvie said it depends on so many variables that what limits one, opens a door for others. She mentioned that you would likely qualify for an exemption, regardless of income because you were already under treatment and they simply don't want anyone to have a lapse in care. Have you specifically asked about that? It might be worth another call to that first number to find out. She said regardless of what happens, there is a lot of paperwork required, but if you already have a pre authorization on file with them, from your doctor and/or previous insurance, things might be expedited. I guess they are made aware of every prescription being prescribed, so they probably have you on record.

PS: if you haven't checked out our payment assistance options, click on the red link in my signature line. The PAN Foundation has been very helpful.

Hi Tig,

I've done all of that already. They've been very nice and responsive but I'm just concerned that there's a financial cut-off.  I should know something by the end of this week.

Thank you for all your work on my behalf.

F.

Hi Femapples,

I just got off the phone with the Abbvie Payment Assistance representative. She has provided me with some information I hope will help.

The first thing I told her is you are in your second week of tx and have lost your insurance. She was very insistent that you contact their  "Proceed Advisor" at      1-844-277-6233. They will require a lot of information but their first concern is to assure that you do not have a lapse in care. That gives you a couple weeks to get this figured out. She mentioned that they may be able to provide you a special exception because you have already started.

There is a benefit process required, you probably figured that anyway. It includes income verification, etc. and they will explain that to you. She asked for your name and "Femapples" wasn't it, lol! She said they probably have some of your information on file, so they'll check that first when you call. There may already be a prior authorization on file there. I asked about the income cut off and she said that it varies with each individual case and will be determined after your income verification is done. She said that they utilize their own program along with several that are listed here on the forum. So there are many options available to you and they're willing to help you.

I was very impressed and recommend you contact them at the number above. The link below is the Payment Assistance application that you can print  when and if needed. She also provided me with a direct Fax number for documentation when you're ready, but call them first. It is 1-855-886-2481

I hope this makes sense and provides you with some direction. Let me know if I can answer any other questions. Abbvie doesn't want you to experience any lapse in tx. So stay positive, this will work out. Good luck!

Does anyone know what the income cut off is for financial help from Abbevie?  My insurance was dropped (long story) at the middle of my second week.  I applied to Abbevie for assistance yesterday; all is faxed in by my doctor.  Also, the doctor's office is trying to get me into a free trial so I don't have a break in my treatment.  Does anyone have any info about that, including entering a trial after already starting treatment with a doctor?

Never a dull moment around here.
