Hey WW

Interesting following your story about "Harvoni" treatment, some of us members internalize our treatment experiences whereas others like yourself share their journey along the way, for that we are very delighted & thankful and encourage you to continue.

Being on Harvoni & Riba myself for 5 months I can relate that the side effects have an ebb & flow. I totally agree that treatment for HCV should contain a Body & Mind approach in its protocol. The medical field is divided on this topic and are afraid to implement it. So most of us our left on our own to find a way to deal with the nonphysical aspects of the malady. This forum and its members are a blessing to all that have journeyed in the past and will journey in the future on the HCV treatment road, thank you for contributing.

As far as investing in Harvoni or the company that make it (Gilead Science Inc.) their stock trades as GILD on the NYSE you can do it yourself through Scottrade

Hoping your treatment will find success.

matt

I don't think my foot pain is from Harvoni. Or it maybe vitamin deficiencies due to the drug. I have had no neuropathy prior to Tx. I think I'm just over doing it. I think I just pinched a nerve while I was doing calisthenics. I have been neglecting to stretch, because I go go go.....I run from one thing to the next. It's jut how I'm wired. It is so difficult for me to slow down and rest. I am going to follow up with my Dr. this week.  I have noticed on Tx that I have good days and then sporadically, I'll have a bad day like yesterday. I'm going to suggest to my Dr. some initial check-in when starting Tx for patients to gain a piece of mind. Tx should be way more holistic than just prescribing the drug and letting it fly. That's the industry though. I insist to have attention from the medical professionals through this. It never hurts to stay on top of everything and monitor the process closely. Thanks, friends.

Hi again Ww,

Don`t worry, you didn`t say anything wrong and we`re all glad  you`re here!   It takes a while to get used to finding your way around a busy forum like this, especially when you`re already anxious about side effects, I remember how I felt when I first joined.  After a while you`ll get used to us all and this will become your second home!

I`m glad the ER doctor put your mind at ease last night and I`m sorry your foot is troubling you like that.  Did the doctor you saw give you any indication of what was causing the problem?  (Sorry, I just saw that Tig already asked that!)

Yoga and gentle exercise are great but try not to overdo it while on treatment, learn to listen to what your body is telling you.

Well done for persevering through the difficult early weeks, I`m very pleased you did.  And so will you be when you come to the end!

It`s great to hear you sounding so positive now, looking forward to your next update!  smile

Hi WW,

Thanks for the update. I'm sorry to hear you're having numbness in your foot. Did they mention the cause? Is it neuropathy? That's a common problem with people suffering from HCV long term. If that's the case, it will hopefully improve after you have achieved your SVR.

I'm happy that your treatment is going along so well now. You had a hard start and this ease of side effects is typical in Harvoni treatment. I wish the doctors would advise their patients that this is a possibility before starting. It's such a new protocol that they are learning these issues as well. It's very important to tell your doctor about these issues. They often provide reports to the manufacturers and the FDA. They use that data to update their information on side effects and adverse reactions.

Be careful with your training. Treatment will be over soon enough and I'm sure in your condition, you won't have any trouble catching up. Stay active and concentrate on a healthy lifestyle. Sounds like you've got this under control to me! I think your help to your local community is to be commended. It's certainly important!

Wow, thanks for the feedback! I thought I said something wrong and everyone stopped responding to me at all.  When I first joined this forum I never participated in one before, ever. I didn't know how or where to post comments, etc. I had an ER visit last night. I was feeling miserable. My right foot is numb and stiff. This makes me sad because my training was going great! I'm still going to keep up with the yoga and chiropractor. I am going to walk and not run for now. I have massage therapy coming up. I am finished with week #3 tomorrow. The ER visit did ease my mind as I am not showing any signs of acute problems anywhere. So I will comfortably keep taking my daily pill. the days are flying by and I really am almost half way finished with the Harvoni Tx. I have had ideas to promote this Tx to the community I come from. Hep C is so prevalent there. People there need help very badly. I have to meditate now to keep my mind helping me to heal with the Tx and the side effects. Have a great day!

Hi Perry and WW,

I just got back from a slow five mile run. Compared to either one of you, I'm just a slacker! worship.gif

I don't think tx held me back with exercise (perhaps laziness) and I'm glad it hasn't deterred either one of you.

Not sure if I will be ready for a triathlon this summer WW, but I will run the Peachtree Road Race on July 4th.

john

Hi ww. Keep up the great work and hope the training goes well. I managed to keep up the running ( some walking) right through treatment ( 24 weeks of Int/Riba) and found it really helped. Had to kick myself out the door some days though!!!! I wil hopefully do a marathon in July and if all goes well will do a 48 hr run in August ( hopefully get at least 200 miles in) but early days after treatment - I'm stubborn though!!! Take care mate

I am glad it is going well. Don't worry about sharing on here. I once had a major panic attack on Riba and Interferon. It is funny now looking back, but at the time I wasn't laughing! :P

GOOD LUCK, one step nearer to freedom! :)

Hi Ww, I`m so pleased to see your update, that`s wonderful!

Well done for sticking it out when things were getting so difficult for you, that takes courage and determination.

As Tig said, you don`t need to apologise!  We`re all different and respond in different ways, that`s to be expected, and we`re here to give support in any way that it`s needed.

Best of luck, keep us updated!  smile

I have to apologize for freaking out. I was truly afraid of this Tx. I am nearly finished with my second week of Harvoni Tx. I am feeling really good. I have mild fatigue and that is all. I am running again all week this week! I think I will be ready for that Triathlon in August! I am so excited about this Tx that I remember reading about some folks in this forum that have invested in the pharmaceutical Co. that produces Harvoni. I am serious. How do I invest? I need to know! What a great idea!
