That is great news, here also they have this in place, a transplant and everything that goes with it costs a lot more than the drugs that are needed.

I am just shocked it took so long to get into place.

 

Europe, the backward thinking continent where money and life is concerned!

This is wonderful news but be prepared, the last time I asked my nurse about this it was only going to be available to those who had completed 2 lots of treatment (I was on a CUP).  Also and not to scare anyone on the new drugs I went from compensated  to decompensated in the space of a few days.  It reversed within 8 days.  Just keep an eye on your symptoms nothing is too small to be reported.

Just seen this on the hep c trusts website

New Treatments available for Cirrhotics

 
 

NHS England has confirmed today that it plans to make the best oral hepatitis C treatment available for all those with cirrhosis as soon as the formal approval process has been completed. This is expected to happen towards the end of May but for practical reasons treatment may not be available until early June. The NHS England policies will allow use of drugs whether or not they have yet been approved by NICE. We would encourage anyone with cirrhosis who wants to start treatment to discuss this with their hospital.
