Hi Brian,

I'm so happy to hear you avoided the knife! Whew, that was close. A colostomy is a life saver for many, but if I had the chance to save what God gave me, I would make the same choice you did if possible. I hope this unpleasantness is in the past and you regain your health and strength soon.

Good to know you received your 3rd bottle of medication and an extension of your grant. Every piece of good news is welcome, especially after the things you just experienced. Things have a way of working out, but it often takes time to witness the changes desired. I admire your strength and sense of humor through this health crisis. I hope you're back in the fight soon!

I agree that our First Responders are worth their weight in gold! I have several friends that are Fireman, LEO's and Paramedics. They are excellent people willing to go above and beyond, at the risk of their own lives, to save ours. This world is a much better (safer) place because of them. Thanks for sharing that story!

Good luck Brian, keep us updated on your progress...

I appreciate all the posts and information.it just re enforces for me the power of support groups and i tyall.

Hi Brian,

My wife had the same thing in her late twenties because of scar tissue from multiple surgeries when she was a child. It was good to have a surgeon who wanted to avoid another operation because of the creation of more adhesions, just as Malcolm said. Three days with her feet elevated and a nasogastric tube did the trick and no recurrence since then. Glad you're still on Harvoni and encouraging others to board the train. Good luck and get better soon!

Hi Brian,

Hope your obstruction settles down by itself. Adhesions are a pain, but more surgery is the last thing you need.

The good news is that Harvoni is absorbed in the proximal small bowel, so your blood levels shouldn't be affected. Recover quickly.

I only took half of my meds (6 weeks when I was supposed to take them for 12 weeks) and still achieved SVR12. I know you can safely take Valium, Xanax and Ativan while on Sovaldi/Olysio but I dam near died when I drank some hard liquor while on the meds, so be very careful as to what meds you take if you 're still on the Harvoni.

Good luck!

Sorry to hear this, keep on trucking there are many side effects from these drugs which 'muddy' the pool.  You'll get there in the end.

Oh Brian, so sorry you`re back in hospital, what a dreadful thing to happen, it must have been very scary too.

Poor you, it sounds so painful but you did absolutely the right thing in the way you managed to get to the hospital so quickly, and remembering to bring your meds with you.

Please keep us updated, we`ll be waiting to hear from you.

Sending all very best wishes to you, hang on in there and good luck!  smile

Thank you all,

It just popped. Up. Again 4 nights ago when i was on the boat. Severe pain massive puke up and some of the worst pain ever! Grabed my meds and made it to shore where fire department got to me

I knew what it was,so grabed my meds and they took me to hospital, admitted me. I have been here 4 days. I am on liquid diet, and have done tonesof tests.  I ha blockage in dmall intestin, i have seen many drs. Surgeon days the ahesions

1,000S of them from my testicular. Cancer rplnd are the cause, even though yhe firdt attempt to get it going agsin faild,he doesnt want to do surgeru yet butnothing is working.

I did have my harvoni logged into yhe hospitals. Pharmacy.  They let me keep it,and nurse just scans the tag. So that is cool. I am just worried about all thr stuff. That could dilute effects of harvoni. Contrast etc etc

My dr csme by this mornning and said tak Harvoni as i hsve been doing. He is also monitoring the gastrointestinal. Stuff.the surgeon who did the original rplnd, invented it and is reviewing the films

Judy difny ecpect this but here i am. I will deal with it ,but just wanted. To let people know. In the mix og eccellent people here there. Are more bad,so i realy have to be alert to the interns etc as i found tey are being mentored by the same drs tht wouldnt even geno type me or show up for appointments one timr in a year...i hanging in and will stay in touch and update

Thanks all

Hey Brian,

Dude, I'm so sorry that you're having to deal with this again. I know the discomfort and pain that can be involved in any bowel obstruction. Are you certain that surgery will be required? I hope they can resolve this before that becomes necessary but often that's the only course of treatment. Please keep us up to date when you have the opportunity. We'll all be pulling for your quick recovery!

Will your doctor authorize you to bring your own prescription into the hospital? With a specialty medication that is often allowed. I know many hospitals don't keep medications like that in stock, especially a drug like Harvoni. If you do have surgery, your digestive tract is going to shut down for a few days, so be sure you're not taking something on a system in full stop mode. Nothing may be absorbed properly, so considering you're so close to EOT, it may be okay to delay the last few pills. I'm sure you've asked your doctor, so trust his decision.

Rest easy buddy and let us know how things progress when you can. Good luck!
