You can also take them to many pharmacies for destruction. The Fire dept will usually have them incinerated along with drugs collected/seized by law enforcement. Our county water/sewer utility asks that they not be flushed because they don't have micron filtration in the sewer system, so some of it can return to the ground water supply. They use a lot of that reclaimed water in the county irrigation systems. Here in Florida, many of our residential  potable water wells are about 20 feet deep! So you're right KPB, it's a good idea to check before throwing them in the trash or flushing them.

Just to let you gentlemen know......your local Fire Department will take all those unwanted prescriptions and dispose of them safely.

Hey Scruffy,

It's funny you say that, I just did the same thing. My daughter was here for a week and is a pharmacy tech. She opened up my cabinet full of goodies and started tossing everything! I was amazed at how much junk was in there. 90% of it was at least a year outdated too. Now I have room to start filling it up again! At least I won't be needing all the liver supplements this time! biggrin

Well I got my 1 year SVR recently so today I cleaned out my med cabinet. Like many other old timers here I bet I had a bunch of those "this is supposed to work or this might help" bottles of stuff. Goodness I must have thrown out 10 bottless of this and that. Only one I kept was the milk thistle and its probably so old.......ya thats gonna go also. Who else here has filled there garbage after SVR???????

Best to all.
