Hi Dave,

I'm glad you got it approved quickly, but I have to agree, the payment process leaves a lot to be desired. Those of us on MC aren't getting a fair opportunity to these treatments. The $7000 expense of yours is still an impossible amount of money for a great many people. I'm glad that you can manage to do it. The PAN Foundation has helped many people, I'm glad they could be there for you.

Good luck on treatment. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. Keep us informed on your progress and remember, hydration keeps the sfx at bay better than anything. Stay compliant, treat yourself right and in no time at all, you'll be doing the happy dance! smile

I found out yesterday that after 40 years with HepC, having a case of early cirrhosis helps in the approval process with Medicare partD.  I'd have been unable to afford it without a grant from the Patient Access Network Foundation though.  As it is 12 weeks of it costs right at 100K.  My copay is 7K with Med part D picking up the balance.  There's enough grant money left to cover another 12 weeks if it's necessary.

Quick approval only came because of the cirrhosis.

Not complaining, but I think it's criminal that companies representing part D are blocked by law from negotiating better prices on specialty drugs like Harvoni, Embrel and Humira.  It wouldn't be a problem if we were all making 500K a year.  Cost wouldn't be such a roadblock to therapy then.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to having the med dropped off at my doorstep so I can get into the healing process.
