Everybody gets the flu and achey joints in their 20's and 30's, all the way up to my 50's when I couldn't stop telling my doc about different stuff every damn week... right?

Yep, I hear you, David.  My doctor kept telling me to take more exercise.  I was in my mid forties when I finally got my diagnosis after being infected for roughly twenty years. 

You got there in the end though and you`ll soon be on your way to better health!

Too many responses to address each of you, so I'll say THANKS for the support in a form post.

Age 64 Geno 1a  Diagnosed 11/14/14 with 6.3 mill VL after 40ish years of infection.  Harvoni tx started 8/15.  SVR12 Feb 4, 2016  Last appt with specialist was told to have my gp order metabolic testing once or twice a year because his services weren't needed any longer.  Still happy dancing.

Woohoo! Getting that approval straight away is outstanding news. Time to get busy destroying your Dragon. You've got the right attitude and by all means, you're starting one of the best protocols available. Won't be any time at all and you'll be dancing Brother. TazKat Genotype 1A null responder x 3 riba & iterferon twice, relapsed from Incivek 2012 with only 12 weeks left to do. stage 4 mild cirrhosis 4/25/2014/ started sovaldi riba & interferon.. finished treatment 7/17/14  results 7/25  cleared..

Hi David, that`s great news!

I`m not surprised you`re so happy to get started after having this virus hanging around for so long. 

Yes, thank goodness you changed to another doctor and finally got your diagnosis!  Being misdiagnosed for years is not that uncommon actually, and I had the same thing happen to me.  Let`s hope that doctors are becoming more aware of Hep C symptoms and risk factors, there are still so many people walking around with no idea they are infected.

This thing has gone without a hitch.  It was only a week and a half ago that my GI submitted the request to my insurer and sent me for additional testing in case they wanted it before approval.  Insurance approved in a snap, and a foundation supplied money for the first 90 day copay plus enough left over to cover another 90 days if needed.

I'm really happy to be starting these on Monday.  Over the last 10 years I've had HepC symptoms that my old PCP always blamed on other illnesses, but he never thought to have me tested for HepC.  Sure glad I changed doc's.
