Wow, I'd like to get on a study like that with free testing etc. but I probably won't be able to so I'll be interested in your results. So keep us up to date on your progress. My hepatologist tells me that I can expect an improvement after I clear the hep c virus. I believe him but I would still be interested to know just how much?

Anyway, congrats on your SVR-36 Scot!

Hey Scott

Great the hear that bit of news, keeping you in a follow up trial might give you some peace of mind. i am the same age as you and one thing I have learned is that recovery does take some time. Good sleep and pace of life is our friend in healing our beaten up old liver.

Stay physically active. eat a healthy diet and sleep long and well as you can, it can work wonders.

A quick followup to my SVR-24.

Because of my cirrhosis I was asked to be in another study at the University of Pennsylvania, this time for 5 years, to follow, measure and track the fibrosis of my liver.  The good thing about the study is I stay on my doctor's radar, I get some free testing (fiber scan, blood work, endoscopy, etc.) for the next 5 years.

Great news that at post Harvoni / Ribavirin treatment week 36 HCV was still undetected.

There is light at the end of the tunnel!

After 16 years of different studies, almost one a year... Interferon, Peg-Interferon, Ribavirin, Incivek (my rear gets sore just thinking about it), Sofosbuvir, etc.  It looks like the Sofosbuvir/Ledipasvir (Harvoni) and Ribavirin treatment hit the mark.

Dare I say, I pray... the Dragon in Dead.

Got the following from my trial coordinator today for my week 24 post treatment results -

Just letting you know that your post-treatment week 24 viral was undetected! J

Even a little smiley face.  Post treatment week 24 - UNDETECTED!!!  Yea!
