Oh man I have to be careful I think.

I had an extreme burst of anger this morning such as I have not had in 30 some years now. I can just picture it now.

I get intensely mad at someone and get all up in their face furious.

Then suddenly I am gasping for breath... and an easy target for the guy to knock me right out . LOL.

Its the Riba!!  I"m 4 weeks into my riba RX and I know what your talking about. Up and down the stairts one time and im geting short on wind.  Your HG drops and less oxygen gets to your muscles- results in shortnes of breath.  Hang in there , its doable.  RC

Thanks for the advice!! I sure hope it gets better...thing is when we moved here 2 months ago it was hard getting use

to the elevation...lots of mini-breaks. Then it got a little better, but now 2 months later it's a lot worse than when we

first got here. Three more weeks seems like an eternity!!

Greetings,

Personally I think both the change in elevation + Riba = your symptoms. In your case exaggerated due to Elevation change.

The only reason I feel that way is in the old days when my bike would have a Carburetor as opposed to Fuel Injection, I would literally have to change the settings on the carb as I was going up a Mountain to allow the bike to breathe better.  Now the ECM on the newer Fuel Injection Models will adjust via computer chip.

Acclimation to a new environment can take up to 18 months as you go through each of the seasonal changes.

I concur, it's the Ribavirin and your Hgb working against you. Take it very easy for the time being. Your body was already in a bit of shock from the move to that altitude. Compound that with your treatment and you've got your answer. The air is considerably thinner at that altitude. Be sure you let your doctor know, it's important they're aware of your difficulty breathing and oxygenating. Limit your activty and save your strength for needed daily activities. Good luck!

It's the riba Gypsy. I had that feeling about the first 3 weeks in  and it stopped. Not on the same tx drugs as you though

Hi Kat

Having looked at your tx I would say its the riba. How is your HB? I was short of breath also but after tx I was fine. It takes about 6 months for the riba to clear completely but I noticed a big difference two days after I stopped taking it. Hang it there your almost done.

I think you will get your wind back, eventually.  Right after I finished treatment I tried swimming again, and thought I was having a heart attack after 1 lap, couldn't breathe, chest hurt, etc. Within 3 months of finishing I was up to 1000 yds a day.  It just takes a while, and you have double the problem because of the altitude.

Hi all...haven't checked in lately and wanted to give an update. I am on week 21 out of 24 week tx.

We moved to Wyoming in September and I was already short of breath and had to pace myself. Thing

is...we went from an altitude of 13 ft. to 6,700 ft. There are days I can't even brush my hair without having

to catch my breath. I know that plays a BIG factor....but someone please tell me that after tx my breathing

will go back to normal as I am getting acclimated to the new elevation......

Soooooo ready for this to be over.......
