Hi Bev,

Yeah I saw that, and realized what must've happened. Doesn't matter, we're all one big happy family trying to help each other make it through to the other side of treatment! If we can answer a question and make a positive difference for anyone, we've done something good! I'm glad you got the answer you needed, that's all that matters!! Keep in touch and let us know how things progress... Good luck!

Hi, sorry I can't find your name. Thanks so much for the info. My doc told me to take them together fasting, but didn't know about the one hour. Thanks so much! That means take them, go walk my dog and wait a little while.  Great response.

Hi Bev,

I took Harvoni and my Prisolec simultaneously at 7am (fasted basis).  I was told both by my Doctor and I also double checked with Gilead as to when I can eat breakfast and was told one hour later...So for me 7am meds and then 8am I ate my breakfast.

Good news on starting treatment!

Hi Bev, welcome back!

Yes you`re right about taking your Prilosec together with the Harvoni dose, and according to the prescribing information this has to be `under fasting conditions`, see section 7.2, Table 3, against Proton-pump inhibitors.  I`m not sure how long you have to wait though before you can enjoy a coffee! . If in doubt do check with your doctor.

I expect other people will be able to chime in here.

I don`t recognise your user name, when were you here previously?

Best of luck with your treatment!

Ps - Tig56 posted before I finished typing! (he`s faster than me!)

Hi Bev,

Welcome to the forum, again! I'm glad you've checked back in and shared the good news that treatment has begun! Excellent news indeed! Everyone has been doing very well and you'll be able to touch base with many of them on treatment or just finished up. The success rates are phenomenal. The time will go by quick, so this will be over before you know it. Remember that hydration is the key to minimizing any side effects, especially headaches. A full gallon of water per day is recommended. Keep your urine a pale yellow and use one of those squirt water flavorings you can pick up at the grocery store to change things up. Just keep compliant and you'll do great.

As far as the Prilosec is concerned, we've had others on it as well. There are some precautions to take, so they will chime in soon. Here's the recommendations from Gilead on it.  I'll leave the link to the website HERE. (Pg 13 Table 4) I have to add that you should always consult with your doctor on these medication questions.

"Proton-pump inhibitors (e.g. omeprazole):

Proton-pump inhibitor doses comparable to omeprazole 20 mg can be administered simultaneously with HARVONI. Proton-pump inhibitors should not be taken before HARVONI"

Hi Everyone!

I am so glad to get back to this group. Hadn't had much to talk about before this. I started on Harvoni yesterday. I don't have cirrhosis, so my treatment is 12 weeks. I did find out that if a person takes Prilosec they have to take the 2 meds together after fasting. This means overnight to me. But nowhere can I find out how long before I can drink coffee or eat after taking them.

I'm so looking forward to being a part of this group again! smile

Bev
