I finished 12-week Harvoni about a month after you, my AST and ALT were normal at that point (no subsequent labs as yet). I really didn't expect the liver enzymes to be normal that soon after tx. My platelet count was low normal at 152. I took milk thistle on and off for a while a few years before undergoing Harvoni. Haven't taken anything other than occasional Vitamin C and B-12 since then.

61 yo, GT 1a, liver F1-F2 pre-treatment.

Diagnosis circa 2000. tx naive till 8/6/15, Harvoni tx initiated 8/6/15 through Gilead's Support Path. 28day labs: virus "und." Sides mild. EOT 10/28/15. EOT liver enzymes normal range: AST 25, ALT 18.

  My platelet count is 89. I will hold off on all of the supplements. My CT scan information is attached along with labs results:

Hi dtre etc. (how about an easier username?),

In my reply to your PM, I didn't realise you were taking milk thistle etc. These can mess up the ALT values so give them a miss for a while.

Sorry, I don't believe supplements can increase your platelets. What is your platelet level?

Could you publish your CT report and biopsy? If you have significant fatty liver, I'd be surprised if the biopsy was Fibrosis Stage 0, particularly as the ALT is up a bit..

Anyway, you are SVR 12 and that's all that matters. Cheers.

Hello Mike,
  Thanks so much for the information.  When my doctor did a liver biopsy, he said I was at 0 stage and no fibrosis in my liver.  I have been taking the supplements since chemo, which ended in April.  I think I will hold off on the supplements and just increase my water intake.  I took all of the supplements to help increase my platelet counts, which was recommended by my naturalpathic doctor at the Cancer Treatment Center.    Thanks for the advice

Hi dtre,

 Welcome to the forum. In my experience the AST / ALT levels will fluctuate for reasons other than HCV viral load. For example attached is a history of mine over the past ~2 years.

 You sure take a lot of supplements. This may be something to take a 2nd look at. Did you take all of these during treatment also?

 Do you know your level of fibrosis? A high level can cause low platelet count / production.

 You may benefit from more water intake. 70 ounces is about half of what I drink, and that's not considering any loss of hydration due to sweating during physical exercise.

 When is your next scheduled lab work?

Hello Tig,
  Thanks for the advice.  I updated my signature.  I was just worried when I saw results from my lab that showed 5 points high on one node and 4 points on another.  I will keep the forum updated. I dont take any medications, but take herbal supplements such as mike thistle, fish oil, maitake, b12, green tea, flaxseed oil and astragulus.  My platelets are still low and I was hoping that they would rise after treatment.  I drink at least 70 ounces of water a day and work out 4x or 5x a week.

Hi Dre,

Welcome to the forum. Your end of treatment date is still so recent, you're going to see these fluctuations for some time to come. The Harvoni will have cleared your system by now, but now your liver and metabolism are in a recovery phase. I personally saw fluctuations in my enzymes for the first year after treatment. I was on a different protocol, but your body still takes it's sweet time to recover from any of these powerful medications. If you were experiencing a relapse, you'd see much higher enzyme elevations. I don't think you've got anything to worry about. There are several things that can cause mild elevations in your enzymes anyway, so you'd have to look at everything you've been doing. Have you taken any other medications? Tylenol, Ibuprofen, antibiotics, some supplements, etc., etc., can make these levels move up and down. The only way to definitively determine a relapse is to have a repeat viral load done. If you could tell us a little bit more about yourself, it would help when replying. We like to know some of your history, genotype, fibrosis level, etc. makes for better informed opinions. You can enter it in your signature line, that's what most of us have done. Here's some information on how we set that up, along with some info on the abbreviations we commonly use. SIGNATURE LINE.

You're still pretty new into this recovery process. I would do my best to relax and not worry about this. If we can offer you any other advice or information about the forum, just let us know.

Hello Everyone,
  I'm new to the forum after conducting some research online.  I finished Harvoni on September 28, 2015 and was told by my GI that I was undetectable.  I had a CT scan for previous colon cancer, which everything on the scan came back ok.  However, the blood work showed the following for my liver:

My AST is up 4 points and my ALT is up 6 points.  Im worried about relapse.  Has anyone else experiences slightly high elevated liver enzymes although they were und? Also my liver scan stated: Liver: The liver is of diffuse low attenuation, in keeping with fatty infiltration.
