I think we both finished 24 weeks of Harvoni about the same time...for me it was Oct 28th. About a week after I had a wicked drop of energy...I really felt much better while on tx. I reached SVR4 and will get tested 4 weeks from Thursday for 12. My Dr is not very helpful when it comes to explaining my fatigue...his job is to cure me of Hep C and as far as he is concerned that has been going well and refers me to my non-existent GP. I know EOT fatigue is to be expected with other drugs...I'm not so sure about Harvoni. My Dr says it's not what he's seeing but I know I'm not the only one experiencing this. Hopefully this is just another phase and I will be able to get on with my life soon. For now I've been somewhat blindsided and try to sleep as much as possible. The hard part is waking up and feeling energized...it's just not there.

 

I just notice we finished exactly on the same day.

Over five weeks post-tx now. Tinnitus is persisting. Feel okay otherwise though the energy increase I was hoping for hasn't really materialized. Could be that the fatigue I've been experiencing for years was not a symptom of the virus, hard to be certain.

Diagnosis circa 2000. tx naive till 8/6/15, Harvoni tx initiated 8/6/15 through Gilead's Support Path. 28day labs: virus "und." Sides mild. EOT 10/28/15. EOT liver enzymes normal range: AST 25, ALT 18.

Congrats Mike on finishing treatment.  Keep us posted on your SVR. :)  Glad to hear you are UND and labs are looking good.  I'm sure you're ready for the hepC free life.  Enjoy

Job well done Mike. You're story sounds about like how my 24 wk Harvoni trip has progressed so far. I have ringing in my ears that I have became almost immune to hearing until someone brings up the subject. And I too have a long history of prolonged exposure to high noise levels but mostly without adequate hearing protection so I can't blame the ringing on Harvoni alone. If it persist, you might have to remind me about it from time to time. biggrin

 Congrats on finishing your 24 wks. Next stop for you is SVR - You got this! wink

Hey Mike,

Congratulations! That's great news and it sounds like everything is going exactly like it should. Well done! Your ALT and AST are following the same path that the rest of our Harvoni warriors have traveled. It is very effective at reducing or eliminating the viral load just weeks into treatment and the reversal of the liver enzymes almost miraculously. Actually it is miraculous. I've never seen anything work as fast as this stuff does and we've got several more that are currently available or in final trials. The future looks good for the HCV patient and very bad for that nasty virus. Winning the battle is sweet indeed! Let us know when you get your SVR, we'll throw a party, WOOT!!

Finished a 24 week Harvoni course about 18 days ago. For any of you considering undergoing the Harvoni treatment, my experience matches the accounts of many others. I had minimal sides of note, though I did have occasional headache, fatigue, and tinnitus which may have resulted from the drugs. I thought I had decreased libido early in the treatment, but that was transient, and I now suspect it was probably due more to fatigue than the Harvoni. I'm feeling okay, but have not experienced a huge improvement in my energy levels as yet, and as of today the tinnitus seems to be persisting. I am a guitarist, former pilot, and power tool user, and although I've always been good about using foam earplugs when working with loud tools/machinery, and used ear-muff headsets for most of my flying career, I did have mild tinnitus before the treatment. I do believe the tinnitus has increased somewhat due to the treatment, but it is far from debilitating. I don't have difficulty hearing normal conversation and I'm generally unaware of the ringing in environments where there is existing moderate level ambient noise.

Post-treatment labs show no detectable virus, and both AST and ALT are back within normal range. I wasn't sure I could expect the latter evidence of successful viral response so soon, so I'm pleased to learn that my liver is apparently no longer inflamed. SVR not confirmed as yet of course though statistics indicate that I have good reason to hope that the virus is done with me. So, my experience with Harvoni has been very tolerable, and though I hope the tinnitus will diminish, I feel I can live with it at this level even if it persists.
