Hi JB,

I also had a **** of a time at the end of 24 weeks - the last three weeks I felt like I was climbing Mt Everest, total misery - counting the days then the hours till it was over. Little sleep, itching, hungry all the time, doubt creeping in, losing sight of the big picture, heart racing particularly when trying to rest.

I gave up on the sleeping tabs from the Dr as they didn't work and contributed to my feeling like crap.

With a mammoth effort I did get to the end of treatment, it was such a relief it's hard to describe. While it took about a week for the worst of the side affects to subside enough to feel sorta ok physically, the mental relief was pretty much straight away.

Good you are getting out and about - distraction is an excellent coping treatment. I took up doing handcrafts sitting up in bed when I couldn't sleep, plus I listened to all night radio and podcasts.

Hang in there - it's worth it

Heyo JB,

I'm new here too but am glad to see you approach the finish line. 24 weeks is a long haul, ya done good my friend.

The dragons dead and the Riba's just knockin' ya down a bit here in the last stretch. You got this!

Eat some fresh fruits and vegies to keep your energy level up, treat yourself to some new and different healthy treats, Avacados, Coconut milk, lots of greens to help get those toxins out of your system, nuts and chia seeds and fish for protein. Take a trip to a good grocery and buy for your liver ... it'll help maintain the positive attitude and probably help with the sleep too. Oatmeal in a bath really helps the itch, I get atopic dermatitis and I even make an oatmeal plaster sometimes, it helps.

Wishing you the very best,

Dave

Hi JB,

You haven't met me yet, but your post really gripped me. I agree with Tig and Gracie. You're hanging in there, and doing great. Yes probably tire a lot but that is probably to be expected because with medication, and soldiers at your side, your body just recently kicked some serious dragon butt. So it's no wonder the fatigue. Be hopeful my friend

Mike

Oh yes, familiar with the feeling and I've heard others say it as well. Your done, the beast is gone, you should be feeling great! More energetic! Tons of unending energy! Got your health back right. And then the doubts start. Hmmm is that liver pain? Am I tired because it's back? What is that ache, pain, twitch? It's gotta be the hep back. It can drive me crazy! All we can do is wait, and know thankfully that it's only 12 weeks and not 52 weeks as it was before. And statistically we have a better chance then any before us of SVR so our odds are fantastic. And we have to realize that our livers are still damaged from so many years of the virus attacking it. That won't change much in 24 weeks although hopefully will improve after a couple of years past SVR. Keep on trucking mate... Hoping for continued improvement and SVR for you.

Hi JB,

Congratulations buddy, you're at the end of treatment and those of us that have traveled that same road understand where your mind and body are right now. Treatment takes it out of you. I'm convinced that there's something in Sovaldi that fires up some sort of internal engine in the beginning. Too many people are mentioning that the Sovaldi backboned protocols are bringing on some sort of stimulant effect in the beginning and often replaced by the fatigue. Of course you've got the Ribavirin on top of everything else, so I'm not surprised that you're feeling kind of wrung out. That'll improve, but you've been around the block before, so you know it doesn't happen overnight. It will though, we never really know how long, but it will.

Do your best to not do the "what if" game right now. I know it's a natural response, we all felt it at one time or another. Try to look at the odds, 96+% success rates and you've done well all the way through treatment. I think you're going to be pleasantly thrilled with your results, so think about that and put those gray thoughts away... You got it this time!

Keep looking for those positive distractions and stay in touch. smile

I am now in week 23 daklynza/sobusvir/ribavarine.  I haven't posted here for a while, so tired lately.    The initial energy burst of the first few months went away, replaced by increasing fatigue, insomnia and itching only soothed by - nothing.  I have been prescribed sleeping pills but only use 1/2 dosage after 3 or 4 sleepless nights.   The pills darken your mood for the whole next day, hence my inclination to avoid using them.  Although  this is not ideal it is hardly comparable to interferon treatment and I am very thankful that I am able to have this treatment.

In 10 days a blood test will be taken and shortly there after I will see if this has been effective, and 6 months after another blood test will determine if I have slayed the dragon. So, in this final week of treatment there are also moments if self doubt when I wonder if this treatment is helping because I don't feel good anymore.  Not like in the beginning When I felt energetic and gulp, almost happy.  And if it fails then what?  This was the last chance for me.   There is nothing else out there at the moment that can help me.

It has been a long road and I am hoping for a good result.  My way of getting through this has been to get out everyday and try to have fun, no matter what effort is involved.   It is remarkable how distractions can be so uplifting.  Thanks for listening and- Thank you all on the forum for your support.  jb
