Greetings JD,

Been on 2 wheels since 71' and will be until I am buried.

That said, the boys can wait and if they are BROTHERS, they will and will be there during and after this.

Let none tell you different. This is important my friend.  ;)

Hey JD,

Good luck on the appointment! You'll know a lot more in a few days and will be able to get this behind you. It's a great time to treat. The protocols are shorter and much more effective than ever. One and done Brother....

Thanks All!

I'm not chronic and never have been as far as the Drinking goes. Just curious is all. The last Treatment I went without completely.

I enjoy a Cold One for sure!

With my Hobby... Riding. Da Boyz like to have one here and there so I was just asking.

I go for my Pre-Treatment Screening tomorrow and am looking forward to taking care of the Hep-C once and for all.

Fingers Crossed!!

Cheers!!

I agree, I would stay away from the NA beer during treatment too. I drink an occasional NA if the mood strikes me, but never got near cough syrup during treatment. That's a stretch, but you know what I mean! Just avoid alcohol like the plague. You can do it and beat the Dragon at the same time. We'll help....

In Canada the non-alcoholic beer is .5% ... I would still stay away from it.

Welcome to the forum J.D. You found a great place with lots of very educated people regarding Hep C and so much more. I am certain you will enjoy it here.

Cheers.

Hey J D,

Nice lookin scooter ... Welcome to the forum!

Ya, lots of us here used to do our fair share and then some as far as drinkin' goes ...

I quit the day I was diagnosed and haven't looked back since. Prior to my Dx (diagnosis) I just figured it would be really tough quitting, surprisingly enough, once I made up my mind it felt good having a good excuse not to drink.

I just started Tx (treatment) about two weeks ago ... so far, so good, side effects so far are minimal and quite easily dealt with (I'm on Sovaldi/ Riba ...

I just realized you said that you've been on Tx before so you probably know most of that already, although you will, no doubt be on a different combination than last time.

This is a great forum, you'll like it here ... everyone's really helpful and there's a ton of knowledge here.

Good luck with all, see ya 'round.

Yep J D, the alcohol will have to be left alone. I'd read the label closely on non-alcoholic beer too. Last time I checked, which has been years ago, even it has a small percentage of alcohol. They will kick you off of the trial if you test positive for alcohol.

In my case I drank daily when I was diagnosed with cirrhosis. I quit then but they still made me stay quit for 6 months before they would treat me just to show I was serious about getting cured. And if you get booted from treatment, it will likely cause some problems getting approved for the high cost medicine when/if, in the future, you do decide you want the cure and are willing to quit.

I'm glad you are getting on the trial. I failed Sovaldi / ribavirin too then re-treated with 24 weeks Harvoni which I just completed Jan 3. I made treatment my #1 priority in life this time an stayed compliant with the medicine schedule and took care of my health so I'm confident that will be enough to achieve SVR this time. We'll see in April.

You have found a good place to get accurate information and good support for yourself during treatment so stick around. There will be other members along to welcome you too so make yourself at home and ask any questions you have. If you need a definition for some of the abbreviations you'll be seeing in the post and member signatures, then click the link below to view that list posted by mallani (Malcolm).

Good luck with your treatment and another opportunity to beat Hep C for good. smile

Hi Jeff, Welcome to the forum.  The treatment your going to start soon is a Good One!!  Your question on the Beer---I think you already know the answer?  However there is still some good news on the question. When I was a kid growing up they had Neer Beer. It tasted bad and dident hit the spot---Fast forward 40 years and today they have great tasting N/A beer that should be great at pool side.   Becks is good, the O"Douls amber is really good and try the Kaliber.  Your going to be surprised .  Good luck going forward.  RC

This is my first moments here...

I posted a Q without stopping here first.

Looking like I'm going to start a New Trial with AbbVie and ABT-530/ABT-493. I had a treatment of Sovaldi/RBV last year that was looking good but Post-Treatment my viral load had returned.

Dumb Question I'm sure but I'm curious to know about having a beer or two pool side is possible. Last time I was told No... and I didn't. 6 months. All for Not!
