Tom and I are both happy to report he is CLEAN.  We are psyched up and happy but also sad to hear that his liver surgeon also has patients who are having a difficult time getting approved for harvoni...why is that?  It just doesn't seem fair.  I plan to lurk to the site still from time to time though.  Hopefully we can give others the support and kindness that were given to us.  Me, my pain management doctor gave me an monster nerve block, he felt I needed one for all the stress I've been going through but hopefully that will be my last.  THANK YOU TO THIS FORUM.  Tom and I have been on hear for quite some time and you have all been here through our whole journey.  It's amazing for me to be able to say he is HEP C free and CANCER free in the same sentence.  Believe me, celebrations will be in order.   But no big vacation until next year.  I want to be sure we are both healthy and able to enjoy our next journey.  Wishing you all the best, and cannot thank you all enough.  By the way, how do you donate money to this forum again?  We would like to donate to help fund the forum.  This is a terrific group of people and the monitors are awesome, knowledgeable, encouraging and understanding.  You really are wonderful and I am so happy I found you over two years ago. Keep up the work.  Hopefully someday, everyone will be cured and we will all just be on here to tell our stories.  That's my wish for you.

Fondly, Laura and Tom

Hi Laura and Tom,

First, I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. That kind of thing never comes at a good time, but especially now. You have all had more than your share of troubles. You have my deepest condolences for your loss...

I'm so happy to hear that you're back to work, just take it slow. I know that must feel pretty good to get back into action after all you've went through with surgery. I went through several surgeries that affected C1 through T1, they're all fused now anteriorly and posteriorly. Wore a Halo device for 6 months, couldn't swallow well at all. Pay strict attention to your diet. I still have trouble 14 years later, doesn't seem like it could be that long ago... I'd like you to look at our Nutrition thread here on the forum, we have some new warriors that have started a "Green Smoothie Ranch" section that is full of great nutritional ideas. It might be just the thing you're looking for.

Good, no GREAT news that Tom has maintained his SVR status, WOOHOO!! We will all say a prayer for him, you can count on that! It's time for you both to be free of these health issues and take that nice vacation you've been wanting to experience. It'll happen, I know it will. Let us know just as soon as you hear the good news. We're all keeping our fingers crossed and sending prayers for you and both of your Tom's... God bless!

Thursday is our big day.  Tom finds out if the ablation and radiation worked.  I pray it did.  He has been four months hep c free so I know the "dragon" is officially removed from him.  We did hear from his doctor that many people are still having insurance problems getting the harvoni approved.  I can't understand that. I'm glad my hubby did and hope the tumors are gone as well.  I'm back to work full time, just back today.  I started out in the beginning of the month part time, and was to start full time last week after the holiday; but then my dad passed away Monday.  It's been a tough week, he was 83, diabetic had MRSA in the hospital but there was NO WAY any of us expected him to pass.  I'm still doing my PT and  speech therapy and my balance has improved tremendously.  Still on soft diet but am getting very creative at making things I can eat, lol.  I go to pain management doctor after tom gets his MRI and meets with the oncologist and surgeon.  Please pray for us.  Sometimes I feel that a black cloud is over our heads.  we are such good, generous, caring people who don't deserve all of this.  I'm hoping to get good news Thursday as if not, it will push me over the edge, well not totally, as they can do another ablation and radiation again, but that's not what we want.  Anyway, I will update all on Thursday.  Just wanted to stop in and say hello and let you know how I've improved as well.  Hope you all are fighting the battle of hep C.  I love this forum as it gives me a chance to vent and cry all at once.  Wishing you all the best, I know my dad is looking down on us now and praying my Tom gets great results.  My dads name was Tom as well.

Fondly,

Laura and Tom
