Rumor has it that the "Masochist Society For a More Painful Life Experience" folks are trying to get it approved as a recreational drug in Colorado.

I have not confirmed that so don't quote me.

Hey Matt,

I think all of us that have taken Riba felt like it was just plain lethal in general! A needed evil sometimes in the quest to annihilate this disease...

Hey Tig

This article describes the action of RIBA again'st' HCV as "lethal mutagenesis"

RIBA still remains a somewhat a enigma, but it has helped many of us relapsers handle mutations during treatment.

Good article Tig.

I think the 'Extrahepatic consequences' has been glossed over. From my research, the mixed cryoglobulinemia often does not resolve after SVR. Vasculitis affecting the nerve sheaths often results in permanent damage, which is why peripheral neuropathy can be a permanent symptom after SVR. The muscle/tendon/joint issues may also be permanent. HepC is related to Insulin Resistance, which may not resolve after SVR.

I thought this was a good article and recommend it for those in search of current treatment data. There is mention of two protease inhibitors, Telaprevir and Boceprevir (NS3), they should be disregarded. They are no longer being prescribed, thank goodness... I was one of the last to ride that train, thankfully. Anyway, this is informative and provides both history and current data on the new treatments.
