Hi Gift Health. Thank you for sharing your story. Congrats on SVR & congrats on your 6 mile run & that awesome time. I'm a runner and love being active and am looking forward to getting back to that, I know it's little by little, not going to overdo it. I stayed (& am staying) as active as possible during & now after Sov/Riba treatment for HCV G2. I made sure to eat healthy, and drink lots of water & pedialyte, doc. said to replenish electrolytes. It's encouraging to hear your story... Thanks again for sharing. For now I will stay out of the sun, hydrate lots, continue eating healthy, and getting my rest! Again... CONGRATS!

Thanks for the update, Gifthealth, it`s wonderful that you`ve already made such a terrific recovery.. and it will only improve over the coming months!

It takes a while to recover from the effects of riba and your post has already given inspiration and reassurance to many here.  For some people it takes a bit longer but eventually we do recover!

So pleased for you that you have your life back...and SVR too!!  Carry on enjoying your Hep C free life and all the happiness it brings!  smile

Hey Gift

Super congrats on achieving SVR12, The RIBA can be a challenge but you have come through it and your body will continue to clear out the remnants for a couple more months to come.

That's awesome Gifthealth. I'm glad you are doing so well. The Sov/riba took a while to get out of my system too, but it did. Thank you so much for staying in touch and sharing your post-EOT experience. Being able to see the positive progress by those who are post Tx is very encouraging for those right in the middle of it and suffering.

Those running times are impressive and I have no reason to believe you will not get faster. Congrats once again on your SVR as you also posted in your I want to share this day with all of YOU... thread

Also, FYI: Mr Yisrael, from the Gilead / VA on the CBS Evening News tonight thread, whom you had offered to help getting his treatment meds just finished Tx on March 22. I will post the news of his SVR here when his 12 wks post EOT results come in. That was very supportive of you to offer help to him like you did.

Hi GH,

Fantastic report! I can relate to that extended fatigue, but as you said, it improves fairly quickly. If you consider two and a half months quick! I noticed an improvement shortly after stopping the drug regimen, but it took awhile.

Congratulations on the impressive 6 miler! I have to admit, I have never ran that far in my life. Two miles when I was able and that was pushing my limit! Now I run to the bank and bathroom biggrin

Thanks for the upbeat update! I know these kinds of messages are appreciated and great to hear. It gives us all hope and confidence that there are good days ahead post treatment. Take care and stay in touch... Best of luck!

Hello Everyone,

Well, it has been 4 months since I completed my 3 month treatment for HCV GT2 using Sovaldi and Ribavirin. The Ribavirin did wack me out during treatment and these symptoms of fatigue and episodic rage lasted 2.5 months post EOT. I definitely noted a return to self at 2.5 months - especially with my energy.

Today, 4 months after finishing my medications, I ran 6 miles at 8 minute 50 sec per mile pace. Not bad for a 58 year old guy that is JUST getting back into running. Best of all, as I mentioned in previous posts, my treatment resulted in SVR!.

So, for all of you on Ribavirin (as well as other HCV meds), hang in there... these medications work and your energy will return.

Gifthealth
