No holiday for May Day. But it makes me think of this.....

Sorry about the BBQ Dave but glad you made good use of the day and Syd hope you are recuperating from the grand kids!

Now for really random, rode in an elevator yesterday with Gary Busey!

Hi All,

good to know you are feeling better each day Dave. Hi Wendy - do you have a holiday for May Day?  Jimmy, I was looking around for you - saw a whole family had been swallowed in a flood there and there is a massive amount of water pushing past huge pipes and washing away roads. Hopefully it's not too close to you. Tig, did you mention The Friday Night Darts Club? I had a look as advised and got totally lost in those stories. Most of them were doing at least 48 weeks of Interferon and Riba in 2010 and some of them stuck at it for nearly two years. I felt very humbled by their bravery and staying power. And I promise I'm not going to whinge once during my last three weeks or so,of Sof/Dac.

Sf and Canuck get to stop popping pills this week. Yay!! I have booked the abdomenal ultrasound I need to have, on Thursday. I suppose no one will tell me anything there but if I do ever get a blood or CT result, you guys will be the first to know.

My daughter at 37 weeks looks like an orange with four matches stuck in it for arms and legs. So I have been playing with the babies today. Being a granny is such a privilege. Okay I have hobbled out of the car and now feel as though I was rolled down a steep hill in a 44 gallon drum with a couple of bowling balls inside for company. But it was worth it.

Take care all

Syd

LOL! I wonder if Dave realizes the reason it was bitter because SF took my advice and omitted the ice cream, caramel and chocolate fudge before serving? No wonder it was bitter! Throw a cuke in there, that'll fix it right up..... Then add the omitted ingredients for a truly cosmic experience! The DQ Green Smoothie, Canada style! biggrin

PS: DQ is now advertising their new Royal Blizzard! It has a center core filling of fruit, fudge or caramel. You know where I'm going today! (I'll toss in a carrot)

I know, I know.... no

Hey Tig,

Ya the exercise really helped the blues ... I was also really craving some tobacco and alcohol (they were the norm for too many years). Having to pedal up hills (so unlike Florida ... bike riding there is a gas) makes me glad I didn't have either tobacco or alcohol. I could tell it was from the Riba mostly, as you suggest ... I guess it stores in fat cells and I DO have a few of those ... LOL.

This evening I took my laptop completely apart and cleaned it ... not something I would have wanted to do at the peak of my Riba days. Laptop had 6-7 years of dust and dog hair in it ... was time for a complete disassemble ... always nice to get it back together and have it work ... LOL. Actually what got me doing that was my headphone jack quit working (bummer). I got it to play the headphones ... just won't quit the speakers ... better than no headphones at all ... gotta have the tunes.

Tomorrow's supposed to be another fine day so we are having a BBQ with Jo's sister ... should be nice.

Life seems to be getting back on track ... it's only been 18 days but it IS getting better all the time.

As for the banana/ kale smoothie ... had one yesterday (was a little bitter but I think I put too much kale in ... live and learn.

Later ... Enjoy,

Dave

Hi Dave,

Good to hear you're trying to get out and blow some of those gray clouds away. Keep it up buddy. You'll be clearing the Riba for awhile, but the depression will steadily improve. It's a job that takes effort, but I know you and Jo are up to the task and it gets easier instead of more difficult. Trust me, I know how it seems like it will never end, but it does. Unlike starting treatment and things seem to get progressively more difficult, this will be just the opposite. Do whatever it takes to regain your optimism, it works. Shake off the blues and enjoy the sunshine every time you can.

(Rumor has it, SF has found joy in a new Banana Kale Split smoothie, try it out!) smile

Nice day today and I was feeling depressed so I went for a bicycle ride. Went about 6.5 miles and just got back. Seemed to help the depression and I've been needing to do some exercise so it was worth the effort. Time for water and a smoothie ... did I mention it's a beautiful day out ... nice to get out and enjoy it, even if I am out of shape and tuckered.

Enjoy,

Dave

Scott,

Nice you are so dedicated to Kayla. I miss our dog (and kitty too). They are the greatest pals, warts and all. Dogs always teach me lessons, in being so "in the moment", and in their durability and adaptability! I think they were placed on earth to keep us humans sane.

I thought you were getting some time off work??!! I think that would have been a very good thing, considering all.

Amazed you are able to keep on, keep on. Very strenuous, the stressors of flu and sleep disturbances on top of everything. Maybe your "pushing it" a bit?

But people have to work, and a man gotta do what a man's gotta do!

Your job sounds quite interesting, you get to go places! Just wish there was a way you could have more rest tho.

You and Linux, being ETO now, should be like dogs, just lay low and lick your wounds. Party hardy later. smile C.

Fido (Kayla) goes to kennel if I leave for more than a day by flight.  If I am working up in Wyoming oil refineries, she goes with.  The hotels are really dog friendly and they let them stay  in the room without me in there.  Obviously,  come back for lunch and walk here and take her to parks after the day.

Most of my jobs here are only a few hours so she stays home  then on all of my many days off, we go hiking, she loves to swim, lay in the snow and most of all sniff everything to the point that it irritates me from the Riba.

Yesterday I was up at 4 am, I had a night job.  I did some stuff on my own all day with my chills and swollen glands and aches and pains.  I attempted to take a nap but had several calls come in so didn't get a nap.  I had to work at a site doing a full replacement of internal components in this big back up power supply.  I got home a 5am.  So I was up for 25 hours and didn't feel good.  But I made it.  I came home and slept 2 hours and then couldn't sleep anymore.  I had work again tonight.  Now I am very tired.  It is 151 am and headed to bed.  I should have the next 2 days to spend with my dog.

I travel to Omaha 2 times a year for a whole week.  I wish I could take her there but the hotels aren't as pet friendly.  They all them but you can't leave them in the room.  So, the place I send here costs 40 dollars per day.  Very expensive but she loves it there.

Hey Oh,

Scott, I have been feeling fairly sensitive to things, turning the heater up a tad among other things, taking your temperature will tell you more of what's going on with you right now, I think.

I'm drinking green smoothies with kale or spinach along with fruits and other vegetables to replenish my system and flush the toxins. Keeping up with the water consumption too.

Each day seems slightly better in most all ways. The biggest difference for me is the reduction of brain fog ... physical strength not as quick ... then again I have been quite inactive for a couple of months so need to work up to things. I'm 63 so staying active and limber is a challenge anyway, my body doesn't like to be inactive for a while or it "stoves up" and I have to really work to get back to a normal day.

Ya, I think either a little bug (take your temp), or just being fairly sensitive after the Tx (like I said, I'm a bit hyper-sensitive to things). All that will subside, I'm sure. Eat well to help get your system back on track.

Syd, Canuck et al,

"I think Syd and I both have "on the other side EOT envy" of you boys, but only in the nicest way. "

Re" being on "the other side", soon enough you will be right where I am now ... then you'll be wanting to see confirmation of SVR, just as I am waiting now ... I find myself in envy of those who've seen that precious word "Undetected" but I know I will know soon enough ... LOL

The great news is that We will ALL soon be SVR and be able to get on with feeling better, enjoying life.

Be Well,

Dave

Scott,

I agree with you, prolly an unfortunate and not needed "coincidence", and agree with Tig's, "a bug". Unlucky. But lucky, and nice, in that you picked one up at a time when you can be off work for a bit??, so, good timing then! Treat yourself well while you recover from all. BTW - what do you do with Fido when you are off/away busy at work?

Linux,

Oh ... "the other side" .. it can't come soon enough! It is so nice to wander along with you, relishing and appreciating the righting of our worlds again. I too can't wait for the days I can start to work on regaining lost things. I'm just talkin strength and stuff here (I found my glasses, SEVERAL times already yesterday, and I am not even on riba!).

I think Syd and I both have "on the other side EOT envy" of you boys, but only in the nicest way.

Riba relief will be so welcomed by all of you with the exit of this monkey off your backs.smile C.

Scott,

I have not heard of that being a common ocurrence due to ending treatment. Had it not included the swollen glands and chills, I'd say it could've been the relief of EOT! Sounds like you may have caught a bit of a bug. Time to grab one of our chicken soup recipes, stay hydrated and get some rest. If it persists, by all means call your doctor and get checked out.

Anyone ever get sick immediately following the day of EOT.  Probably just a coincidence but I have swollen glands and chills.

Thanks Syd,

Not to worry, I'll still be keepin' an eye on ya in the Sovaldi Riba Train thread. smile

Thanks for the kind words.

I can tell I still need to give things time ... I'm tuckered out from washing the car and mowing the lawn yesterday and a trip into the city today.

I'm getting bursts of energy now and then though and try to get stuff done when that happens.

Wishing You Well Syd,

Dave

No seriously,

so glad you are feeling more energetic and motivated Dave. Getting your strength back will be really wonderful for someone who likes being outside, doing stuff as much as you do.

Hi Alison,

It's been less than a week but I am already able to do a lot more.

Still have some shortness of breath and my muscle strength is still a bit shaky but hopefully that will go away in time.

I'm finding myself wanting to do things now, where a week ago I had no desire to do anything but sit at my desk and go to bed.

Nice to hear it just keeps on getting better. I plan on reestablishing exercise routines as I feel up to them. I want to get out and enjoy life.

Thanks for the kind words ... like your avatar, cute pup smile

Dave

p.s. I'll find out in July but I have NO Doubt that dragon is dead and gone.

yay, it's a huge relief to be finished with that riba, isn't it? And hopefully you're undetected too.

I found each day I felt better and better and could actually do stuff without having to lie down every 10 minutes. I've been off for 4 months now and it amazes me to be able to do stuff like a normal person.

Nothing like riba to make us all appreciate being post treatment.

Bless,

Alison

Whew!

Went to the grocery and washed the car ... felt like quite an accomplishment after being inactive for quite a while.

Both needed to be done and I feel good having done them ... I'm takin' a break though! smile

There IS life after Tx ... Yay!

It's green smoothie time ...

Hi Jill,

Thanks, yes it is nice to be posting on this side of the fence ... just getting to the fence WAS what seemed an endless journey.

I appreciate your thoughts and guidance along the way and now as well.

On a much easier journey now to SVR confirmation ... lets me go 'bout my business rather than physically and mentally consuming me.

I have a feeling the rough edges will hang on a bit and some days will be better than others while on the mend ... but that's life, isn't it smile

Thank You,

Dave

Hi Dave, feels good to be posting here on the other side, doesn`t it!  smile

You`ve come a long way and of course you can`t wait to get on with your life... and you will do, once you`ve recovered from the riba ravages!  Just the fact that you`ve finished tx is a huge mental and emotional boost, and the rest will follow over the next few weeks as you feel your strength and energy returning.

Take it a bit easy... and good luck!

Thanks Scruff,

Doin' just that (takin' it easy) ... I can feel my mind pushing back to fog ... I even felt sharp enough to do some online tutorials this morning ... wouldn't have had the concentration or patience to do that a few days ago.

Somehow I've emerged with a fresh new outlook on life ... it's pretty awesome.

Thanks for the kind words smile

Dave

Well Jimmy, obviously you're included (if that's why you're coughin') ... I did say y'all now, didn't I ?

... one of these days someone's going to have to 'splain' what's up with the "shootin' yer eye out" thing ...

I kind of lost track of everything there toward the end there (well ... maybe more than just toward the end ... like toward the middle too ... er ... and at the biginning too ... blankstare )

Welcome to post treatment! It has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? That doesn't mean you can start slacking though. Nutrition and hydration are an important part of recovery, but you know that. You better anyway! If'n you forget, we will remind you! Good luck.... smile

Only been two days since EOT (4/12/16) but the high intensity of the Riba is starting to back off just a little.

Quite a relief being done with Tx ... as you all well know.

My EOT CBC and CMP looked good ... Hb was only down to 12.9 which is pretty amazing and should bounce right back, ALT was 18 which makes me happy.

Have a CBC scheduled for a month from EOT but no RNA until EOT+ 12wks

Feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders ... just want to get my strength back, get out and do stuff, I've got lots of yardwork to do, home improvement projects in the works, camping to do, boating, walks in nature, photography, gardening ...

Mentally I'm ready to get started NOW ... physically, I'm going to have to pace myself to get back into the swing of things.

Just wanted to say Hi to the Post Tx folks here ... so HI y'all!

Dave
