Hi David and welcome from me also.
 I was on Ribavirin for 24 months and didn't experience bad side effects until toward the end of treatment but fatigue was a factor early on. So don't be alarmed if this happens because it just means the medicine is doing it's job. The fact that you are drinking lots of water is good, very good. You want to be sure to continue to do so throughout treatment. 3-4 liters per day minimum.
 You are on an effective regimen and I'm looking forward to seeing you complete your 12 weeks then go on to live a happy, healthy Hep C free life.
 Have a look around and ask any questions you have. We hope you keep us up to date on your progress. You'll notice that most members have Hep C related information specific to them listed in their signature. This is helpful to have for quicker, more accurate member reply's to any post you make. Some more information on that can be found HERE.
 Good luck with your treatment. We're glad you're here!

PS. I edited your first post to show 600mg Ribavirin. If that's not correct then let me know. smile

David told me by PM that he meant to say he's on 600mg/day of Riba, not the 200mg in his first post.

Hi David,

I went onto the same treatment for 12 weeks. Presuming you are taking 1200mg of riba you may enter some rocky patches. But that said, i have a friend in my hometown here who did the 24 week regime last year, and felt only fatigue. So hopefully you will be one of that type. All of us here though, who have lived with the virus for 40 plus years, are united in feeling very lucky to have survived long enough to be around for these new treatments. We would take the side effects over slow death from liver complications any time.

Contracted Hep C 1969. Genome Type 2, treatment naive. Began 12 week RIBA/sof/Dac on 12/11/15. Cirrhosis. VL before treatment 4m. Treatment extended another 12 weeks without Riba. No virus detected at 9 weeks.

I reread your post and want to ask you about the dose of Ribavirin you listed. Should that be 1200 mg of Riba per day or did they actually prescribe 200 mg? You also got very lucky being approved for treatment under your girlfriend's policy! Never have seen that happen before. Good luck!

Greetings and welcome.

I have to go with Tig on this one. When I was on the Riabaride it took about 7 weeks before it was less than fun. Progressed from there and by the time I was removed from Treatment in week 11 I was a bit of a mess.

That said I would do it again in a heartbeat if that was the option they gave me on the re-treat.

Side effects are not the thing to set ones sights on, the goal is and whatever it takes to get there is well worth any discomfort.

Stick with us here and clearly I agree with your comment regarding prayer. I am a Christian and believe very much that which is taught at Romans 8:28.

Congrats on the option to do the trial, that one is pretty good!

Hi David,

Welcome to the forum. I'm very happy to hear that you were approved for treatment. You're on a great protocol. GT 3 with Cirrhosis is a mean a** Dragon to fight, but you'll win the battle. Just stay compliant, hydrate like nobody's business and eat right.

I have to disagree with your statement that Ribavirin side effects shouldn't be believed. I REALLY disagree with that. I've been around a very long time and helped hundreds of people through the side effects you feel are easy to navigate. I'm not here to warn you of anything, just advise you that you're not even a week into it yet. Give it a month or two and then let me know how you're feeling. Some can deal with the side effects better than others, but it does affect the metabolism, neurologic function and causes hemolytic anemia. You're right about praying though. I guarantee you, that HE and WE will be there to listen when you seek support and a kind shoulder.
