Hello,

I included a link to some important information on taking those types of medications (among others) below. Before you decide to take any medication while on treatment, you should absolutely contact your doctor first. Good to hear you got started and it was an easy start!

See Section 7.2 Table 4 of the Harvoni Monograph

Thanks for the info, everyone!

I started Sunday, morning. Went pretty easy.

Some minor gas, I hope it's an issue that won't linger, could be a problem going in to work.

Anyone suggest a medication for that that won't interfere with Harvoni?

Thanks again for your replies!

best

Hi Roy,

I was able to stay on the tumeric while on harvoni. I went over every herb, supplement and vitamin I took with my gastroenterologist prior to starting the Harvoni. The specialty pharmacy had to know them all as well prior to shipping to me.

Best of luck,

wendy

Hi Roy,

Welcome to the forum, glad you're here!

I'd just like to add that you should tell your Doctor ALL medications that you are on including All supplements, herbs etc. You should give them a list including All of those.

You should also inform the pharmacy where you got your meds of the same.

It's important to keep both Doctor and Pharmacy informed.

Dave

Hi Roy,

There are things you absolutely should not take. One that I did not know about is Grapefruit. Not at all. I just finished 12 weeks this past Monday.

My best advice is talk directly to your pharmacist as well as reading the insert. Even phone a line to Gilead.

There are definite things you need to be careful with but having said that, it's a very well tolerated tx. Don't worry about it at all.

Hi Roy

Stop the Milk Thistle, and stop all herb supplements.   Tylenol is ok but at low dose.

Not sure on the sugars, fatty liver-diabetes-cirrhosis-all will do better if you limit you sugars!

The insert with your Harvoni will talk about the meds and herbs you need to stay away from while on treatment.   RC

Hi

Im starting a 12-week course of Harvoni on Friday the 13th.

I'm curious what others think about:

Ive been taking Milk Thistle for years. Recently started taking Turmeric. Im thinking Ill just take a break from them while on Harvoni.

Should I stay away from high sugar products, like chocolate, ice cream, syrup (molasses)?

Any info links to good diet choices?

I have been using the nicotine patch after having smoked for 40 years and stopped many times. Is the patch ok to use?

Which pain medications are allowed? Tylenol is ok but not Ibuprofen?

 Best
