Greetings,

To be honest, I believe the FibroSure test tends to be more exaggerated with regard to results. When dealing with Insurance, that is a good thing. wink

He did allude to something like that, also saying that while a fibroscan is expensive and more accurate...insurance does not cover that one. Have to be a score of 2? With the fibro blood test. Does this sound right?

Yea, Tig, I wonder if I can get an MRI, but it sounds like he is hoping for a high fibro score and that accurate testing is not on the top of the list. confuse

Aparently this Dr. Is the only one in the Valley...how do I find out if he has had good success with his other patients?

Thanks Tig and Jimmysmile

The Fibrosure or Fibrotest is a blood test that uses an algorithm to measure the results of several blood markers. It's used because it's less expensive. You get what you pay for.... It isn't particularly well known for accuracy (jmho). It's less accurate at the low and high end of the scale. There seems to be a lot of use because of the simplicity. Fibroscan (specialized ultrasound) is more expensive and is dependant on equipment and technologist. It can also offer varied results. MRI seems to be the easiest, most accurate non invasive means of determining fibrosis. Again, the cost is higher, therefore used less frequently.

Yes, I meant to add that. Seems this fibrorsis score is a real determining factor. I have to research about this, its in a blood test? I though it was a scan, he said no...don't really need to do that. So...*shrugs shoulders* I'm outta the loop on info. ... haven't been frequenting site, (sorry)blankstare

Hi Iris,

Woohoo is right! Goodness, you've been getting ready to do this for awhile. I am excited to hear the news that everything is in the works. What's the next step? I'm sure they'll want a fibrosis stage, demand it if not. You need to know that. Please share any labs, that's always helpful. The doctors are getting pretty good at all of this, so I'm sure you'll get everything squared away by the end of June. smile

Wooo Hooo!, I saw the Actual dr. that may be able to dispense the winning drug! I really don't want to get too excited just yet as there is a few preliminary tests to be done. I still have to be "sick enough" to recieve treatment as per my insurance. That just seems wrong to me. Anyway, the ball is rolling, I should know more by the end of June.
