Is this a harvoni side effect?

Miriam,

Glad to hear it's just a sprain, not that that is a good thing, but it's far better than a fracture. I hope you heal quickly. I have had to use a cane on and off for different reasons and if it helps, all the better! Beats crutches!

I want you to look at my signature line and select the blue link about payment assistance programs. There may be an organization or manufacturer that can help you with those copays. Do some reading and see if there may be some help available.

Think it's just a bad sprain. Iced it most of yesterday.  No pain sitting.  Lots of heel pain walking. Actually  hobbling  with an old cane. Seems to feel a little better with a sock and sneaker  on.  Trying to avoid  urgent care visit. Probably  just wasn't focusing.  So much going on. Besides  Harvoni ($10,000 ofp), endocrinologist  wants me on Forteo  for osteoporosis  ($2,000 per month  ofp).  Was going to start that as soon as my 12 weeks of Harvoni  was up. But now that I got the copay  cost, no way can I do that.  Between  both social securities,  we make too much. So more worries. AND we were supposed to drive  down south  on Thursday.

hey Miriam,

hope the ankle is a wee bit better today. I did not experience dizziness on harvoni. Not sure what this is all about but while I still had a monthly cycle I would get clumsy right before it. Drop things, trip, bang my leg on furniture. Just be a clutz for few days. Weird.

Hope nothing was broken and try to look back and ask yourself was I adequately hydrated, had I eaten enough?

All best,

wendy

Hi Miriam,

just wanted to give you a big cyber hug. I'm sure that the falls have more to do with preoccupation, stress, anxiety than any side effect of Harvoni. But reading your post took me right back to the four week mark of my own treatment which was early in January this year. I was so stressed and my life revolved around the blood tests and the waits. Looking back, I know that most people achieve viral, free status during treatment and that it's the EOT12 that counts. I'm still not there but have a totally different attitude now. I'm sure it will come to you too. Statistically we have a good chance of being cured. Negative thoughts make the time seem longer and the immuno system weaker. So many people so much worse off than us.

It took me months to get to this way of thinking and I attribute it to the support and encouragement of so many here; the bravery and lack of self pity shown by so many is inspiring.

Try to relax and spoil yourself a bit.

Love,

Syd

It obviously varies from clinic to clinic but a week-10 days should be plenty for the lab to do the test and report back/.

Good luck!

You are probably  right. Very  stressed  over all of this. 4 week blood draw on Wed.  How long till one gets results?  Pre harvoni tests took about a week and a half.

Hi Miriam

Did you get any symptoms at all before the falls?  Anything unusual?

I think it's going to be hard to attribute this to Harvoni.

Have you been preoccupied recently (perhaps about the treatment) and weren't paying attention?

Pablo

No dizziness I think. I also do stairs one at a time. Just seemed weird since I generally  do not fall.  Still icing the ankle.

Hi Miriam,

I'm sorry to hear about your fall and injury. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

There isn't any mention that I'm aware of regarding this. The trial data shows a small percentage of participants complained of dizziness. Are you experiencing that prior to your tripping incidents?

Good luck with the ankle!

Third time I've  tripped in last few weeks. Two other times I caught  myself. This time I went down and couldn't  get up. Sat on steps  till my husband  came.  Icing the leg now. Back of ankle hurts like hell. Hopefully  nothing  broken
