Hi Paul,

Welcome back old friend! Congratulations is in order! We're getting to be old hands at this continued SVR stuff. I like it like that, woot!

Your ALT and AST are quite normal and yes, the AST elevation over the ALT is probably secondary to the cirrhosis. Still, I wouldn't be concerned that there is something nefarious going on. What does your doc say? It's quite common for there to be an AST elevation in HCV related cirrhosis but the AST:ALT ratio is typically <1. What was your GGT?

You should be having regular 6 month ultrasounds to monitor for HCC. That's standard practice for cirrhotics. Since you're able to get a Fibroscan, I would request that every so often in the years ahead to monitor your fibrosis stage. We don't always see fibrosis regression, but very often we do and many of us have.

Keep up the good work and enjoy the continuing benefits!

Well not quite.. a couple of months short but close enough. Guess it's all over now.And since i was undetected at week 4 of the 12 month tx... that is nearly 3 years virus free!! Yay me.
So got some results and ALT is 28 & AST 37.  Does this still indicate cirrhosis with the AST being higher???

Plus my AFP marker is now 2, down from a high of 8 in 2006.

Hope everyone is doing fine.  Hep C certainly is not the monster it was when I first underwent treatment over 20 years ago.

Cheers
paul
