Hi Taz,

That's great! I believe your changes could be the result of beating Hep C. I had a real problem with skin discolorization on my legs, primarily below the knees. My doctor said it was the result of vascular insufficiency, which is common in us old farts. I'm familiar with what he was referring to, but I wasn't sure it was entirely the same thing. Long story short, I noticed after SVR that it was getting lighter in color. Whether my circulation improved enough to bring this about or it was associated to HCV, I'm not certain, but it's gone. Now I'm just an old fart with beautiful legs, lol! wink

Enjoy your Hep C free future!

Hi there goldencurls,

Glad to hear from you again.

Great news your EOT and und! I can't beleive you are already finished. Your last post you were about halfway and und. Good going! Big congrats on getting rid of this thing which has plagued you. I am assuming you will have another set of bloods at EOT+12 weeks, and then again at EOT+24 week.

I cannot answer your ques. about hyperpigmentation, I am so much older than you (lots of time for sun damage), and I had undiagnosed HCV for so many decades (if this has an effect), also, I did discover I had a high iron load as well just before treatment (which resolved post), so I quite wondered if this iron load had an effect on my skin?, additionally I've been on HRT for quite a while which may contribute?, so really I have no idea why I became more and more spotty (noticed this last decade and especially these last couple years) - mine has not improved after HCV cure though, rather my leopard suit is worse. I will be consulting with dermo soon for same, had one ugly spot biopsied quite a few years ago (became raw and would not heal) was sliced off and found to be basal cell carcimona, I have another ugly one now, it was partially biopsied too, just recently and it is some kind of weird "chronic spongi-form" dermatitis thingy.

I would only be guessing, but I would not be surprised if your skin thing could have been HCV related, thus improving after cure. The only other thing I can think of, that may contribute to hyperpigmentation issues in younger women, is use of hormones like oral contraceptives.

I think it is just grand that your hyperpigmentation thing has just vanished! What a lovely bonus! (I wish my skin things would just take a hike!)  I'm so glad for you, and glad you are finished with HCV!

How are you feeling otherwise? How did your final exams go while you were on treatment, I recall that was a concern for you. Did the headaches you mentioned lighten up in the last half of treatment?

Glad you posted your good news. biggrin C.

Wow, that's super interesting and awesome.  I am amazed at how HCV affects each of us so uniquely, and am happy for you.

Hi everyone, I have recently finished epclusa and came out undetected! Now that summer has approached, I have noticed that the skin pigmentation I once suffered from when my skin begins to tan has completely gone? I have had it since I can remember, it appeared as many freckle-like dots down my stomach, chest, navel, and heavily in patches on my back. I had come to terms with looking somewhat like a leopard but now it has gone! My mum thinks this is due to the hep c being gone from my system - has anyone else had similar experiences?
