Hello Scot,

Thanks for checking in and sharing your story and the continuing progress. I wish I had a study group offering the kind of follow up you're receiving. I find that kind of thing fascinating, but then I'm a Hep C nerd! You've been given a great opportunity to keep a sharp eye on your recovery.

Keep in touch and celebrate the Hep C free life!

It has been a long time between posts for me.

So many trial studies and so many years. I eventually ended up with one of the top doc's in Hep C trials, treatment... At the University of Pennsylvania.  But there too, many, many trial studies until...

The last two of note, the original single drug in Harvoni for a year and 24 months post i was clear, then surprise, it was back.

Then Dr. R said they had a new study, for non-respondenter, relapsers that was Sofosbuvir and Ledipasivr which would later be marketed as Harvoni.  I was at the UPenn Hospital awaiting an Endoscopy (esophageal varices banding), sitting in surgical waiting area in my hospital gown and IV inserted...  My wife and I insisted that the trial coordinator come to waiting area now, not he'll call you in a few days.

That was more that 3 years ago (maybe 4) and after 24 weeks of Harvoni, I've been undetected for at least 3 years.

In addition I'm enrolled in a follow study (every 6 months for 5 years) where I have lab, and every other visit I have a FibroScan ((Transient Elastography) for the Measurement of Liver Fibrosis.

The good news is that my liver seems to be healing itself.  First scan result showed score of 59.9, a year later it was 32.2.

Hoping the next one, sometime in the next few months, will show even more healing.

My advice to all, keep trying, keep pushing.

My apologies for not having posted for a while, just needed a break from thinking about my liver/Hep C.
