gas is what i was thinking, since i've had suspicious pains for years and a good fart or burp solved it.

of course you want to be carefull about farting if you are prone to those lose stools

certain yoga poses can help release the gas.............. def contact the nurse or doctor to find out what you can take for it and when

tig, so sorry to hear about the health care as88hole. our daa tech is a bit off as well but hubby got the brunt of that- at least i was aware going in so i could plan accordingly.

hope everyone finds relief for what ails them today

 Oh interesting Tig, I had a polyp too, mine wasn't blocking it was just growing, they took it out when it reached 10 cm (that about an inch and a half ?) yea, wow, so sorry for the A hole dr. Do feel free to get it off your chest. We expect our health care people to actually adhere to the Hippocratic oath. Mine wasn't a choice, county facility and all, since it's a teaching hospital I probably had a rookie doing the actual surgery, who knows. The poo thing does suck, I find almonds help a little. I also found bread and most other wheat products make it worse, it creates really bad heartburn, body aches, headaches, diarrhea, aggravates brain fog, and crap I forgot the other thing...darn brain fog, didn't eat wheat hmm...I don't think, LoL

I can't begin to tell you all of the problems I've had and continue to have, as a result of having my gall bladder removed. I started experiencing a lot of pain in 2001 in my RUQ. Thinking it was my HCV causing the problem, I ignored it as long as I could. It didn't get any better at all. So my wife did an ultrasound on me and found a polyp in my GB. I fought it out with my hepatologist at the time, he was a A hole deluxe. He said it was my imagination and to forget it! I couldn't friggin believe that pompous ass was telling me that. I've been around the block a few times and this dude was some preppy little sh*t that thought his poo didn't stink. (I'm having a moment right now thinking of him... disbelief ) Anyway, I spoke with the radiologist that we work with (our ultrasound business) and he sent me in for a scan. They found that my GB was filling with bile, but not ejecting it, so it was blowing up like a balloon! Talk about hurt, geez louise, that was painful. They gave me a drug that was supposed to make it squeeze and release the bile, it didn't work. It just kept filling... Help me Lord... They did a laparoscopic GB removal pronto like and it solved the problem as expected. I had fired my first hepatologist and hired the doctor that ultimately cured me of my Hep C. Win, Win for me getting rid of that first jerk. That said, I've been loose as a goose ever since. Something about regulating that bile is missing. I would pay good money for an honest to goodness real turd... What can I say? I understand your discomfort and wish I could offer some additional support. I had a friend in a similar situation as I am and his best suggestion was to invest in good double ply toilet paper biggrin  It was great advice!

Yea I suppose that could be it every now and then, I mean it doesn't happen often, but it has been more frequent since loosing my gall bladder. I also have a continual pain just behind my belly button on the right that landed me in the hospital shortly after the surgery. They said it was my fibroids rubbing on the new wound. It flairs up every now and then. I wonder about the area under my liver though, isn't that where the gall bladder is? That's where the pain feels like its coming from. Could it be the clip that holds the whatever they cut rubbing on something?

9 times out of 10, when we experience discomfort/pain in the RUQ, it's related in some respect to the large colon. It 90's right under the rib cage and liver in that exact location. The new DAA's are well known for causing gastric distress, gas and diarrhea. Very often it gets trapped in what's known as the ascending colon. It can be very painful and as long as that gas or obstruction remains, it will be painful. I'm including a link to show you exactly what I'm referring to. My guess is, this is where you're feeling the pain. A big fart works wonders... 

I hope you get to feeling better soon. If you don't, you should contact the doctor. Be cautious with antacids anytime you're taking a DAA. Wait four hours after you take your medication before trying something like Tums, etc. It will halt the absorption.

Ive never had that cramping in my liver/rib cage until this week during yoga. Till now Ive been able to stretch just fine without cramping in that area. Weird. All that to say: I think I know how you feel Iris and I deeply sympathize. I have had severe foot and leg cramps for years but the torso/abdomen cramps are new and they are a special kind of pain. Very unpleasant.

Hello Iris -- I do recall that Tig or Canuck had explained this pain in liver area under the ribcage on the right when I was in Harvoni treatment. I think it can be a muscle or even gas, yet I'll let them speak to that. What I can say is I had pains in my liver area under the ribcage as well,  sporadically for some years. After starting Harvoni treatment that pain continued for a few months, and then lessened. Now that I am HepC free, I don't experience that pain any longer. 

I know its an uncomfortable feeling, and hope it subsides for you soon! Drink plenty of water!

So, I know you cannot supposedly feel pain in your liver, but over the course of this disease and more so as time goes on I get a knife twisting kind of pain in my liver. Had one just the other day.

Also if I bend over to say, tie my shoe or paint my toenails or some other kind of hunched over thing, on occasion, I get a shooting burning pain along with what feels like my liver cramping. I have to straighten out immediately and rub the area until it releases and you can feel it bumping 4-6 times then the pain goes away. This is around my lower ribcage always on the right, always in the same spot. All I can think is this must be a mussel that holds my liver up?

Then there's the dull ache that always seems to be there. Hoping all three of these weird pains go away after treatment. 

(ps... I do not have a gall bladder)
