Hi Ivanko,

I see you are emailing us from and must be attending your education in Bolivia?

May I ask what you are studying at your college, why you chose this line of question to write about in your paper.

What is the theme and goal of the paper you are writing?

We are always interested in all things to do with chronic hep C. What is YOUR interest in chronic hep c testing and why are you writing about it?

I don't think anyone enjoys having blood drawn, but blood (via a blood draw) is an awful handy and thorough tool and medium to use to reveal a near maxiumum amount of info for full detail about a persons state of infection. Jes sayin.

Hope we hear back from you and if nothing else, that you end up with a good grade! smile C.

There has been some discussion on the topic of a less expensive urine analysis that can detect HCV. Whether it can accurately quantify the virus is unknown to me. I’ll see what is out there and report back if I find anything.

Here is a dated (3years) article that provides some insight.

HCV Urinalyis Testing

Another from 1998:

HCV Antibodies in Urine/Saliva

Assorted sites with diagnosis relationships:

UA/Bilirubin

Hep B Antigen in Urine

Dear fellow members,

Could you please shed some light as of what are the steps and what variables to take into account to diagnose hepatitis through a Urine Analysis, without having to draw blood from a patient?  The information provided I will only use it for a report I am writing for a class I'm taking here at my local, state university.

Thanks in advance for the help that you may provide.

Ivan.
