I'm glad you are enjoying those grandchildren.  Aren't you glad it's up to the youngins' to take care of those darling little creatures.  That should keep your birth control up to date.  Have fun!

Oh, you’re funny Cheddy! The one that got through, huh? LMAO! As I mentioned to Tom, paranoia is like a shot in the dark, you never know where it’s coming from and yes, I guess from my vantage point (looking down over this gastronomic protrusion) I may be knocked up or very bloated, lol! My grand daughter thinks I carry barking spiders in my back pocket! This is going to be fun wink

LOL!

I can't help with the first, but hopefully the frown reversed.... wink

If there is a downside to this, at least we have a break before all hell breaks loose! I'm thinking paranoia is every bit as dangerous to our health. If we had been paranoid in our youth, many of our current situations would've been avoided. Me, I was bullet proof, but apparently one round made it through...

Hi Tig,

the estimator uses baseline (pre Tx) numbers. But it is based on big data, from the VA. There was actually a letter to Hepatology,
asking why they did not include post Tx stuff, and the answer was essentially: That is not as simple as it might sound.
Of course, my paranoid view of things kicks in and says: Pre Tx numbers will improve in most cases with SVR. But what if some evil post Tx configuration shows up that promises doom? And nothing (short of transplant) to do about it? Maybe better not make a lot of noise about it?

But I am sure this is wrong, like my ultrasound thing last week.

I used to listen to Black Sabbath, still remember the first lines of Paranoid ...

Cheers, Tom

I could certainly benefit from your walking program! I really need to get off my butt and do something. On a side note, my daughter and grandkids (2 & 4) are staying with us for a couple months while my SiL is transferred to a new duty station. I have a step counter and have already exceeded my goal by lunchtime... I’m feeling some of those previously abandoned muscle groups already!

Thanks for that HCC estimator. That’s pretty interesting and now I’m going to have to dig out my latest lab results and do some estimating. It’s amazing how many calculators they have developed. They can really open your eyes to potential problems!

Well, still walking, 6 miles plus a day, rain or shine ...

The eye is stable, no problem there. But it never stops, I think my dentist is on a roll, this trade will not die anytime soon.

F score? My liver doc looked me straight in the eye and said: You don't have liver disease.
So what to think? Biopsies don't lie. I am too old and lazy to get seriously involved in Pathology/Histology,
truly messy and complex stuff. Papers talk about dogma. I kind of think, well, all they took is a very small sample,
maybe they hit a bad spot.

So I just do what I can health-wise, and worry only a little about HCC these days. (There is a risk estimator
at hccrisk.com)

And we go for a tour of the Cyclades next week!

Cheers, Tom

Good news, Tom.

It does seem odd when I'm getting any kind of test that I can't get any immediate information.  I think, "It's MY test.  I'm buying it. I own it" but I've also seen the other side where some dipsh*# makes an unqualified comment that results in unfounded worry.  I get it, so I wait on the specialist and grill them.

Cheers to the "dying trade".  I'm glad the ba

Hey movebo,

Nice to see your post! My how time flies. Hope time is flying well for you - by the dates and sound of your stats it would seem so.

Are you still into your long walks? Did you ever decide to utilize fibroscans to get another method of gauging less liver firmness, another way to represent/express your fscore?? Mind you, i am very glad you have these regular U/S's and all the rest of the follow-up testing and exams.

How is your vision now BTW - still good?, never waivered back to an altered field again??

Nice to hear from you. : )   C.

Hi Tom,

Regardless of the hesitation by the U/S Tech, the news is excellent! Congrats for your continued good health and happy liver

My wife and I have an ultrasound business and the reason a lot of techs are closed mouth, is due to all the privacy laws. Some doctors get excited when the patient comes back for a visit and have more knowledge of the results than they do! It also upsets some of the reading radiologists, who in turn get on the tech for opining, even though a skilled sonographer likely have “read” more ultrasounds than the doctor.

Thanks for the great update and dropping in to say hi smile

Hi All,

just an update, saw my liverdoc this week: bloodwork is all good, see signature. And the US is also fine, no this and no that, just a little diffuse echogenicity. OK.

Doc said, with joy, that Hep C is a dying trade now.

Do you get this psycho-flares with reports? I go to a imaging clinic for ultrasound. I guess the sonographers (mostly  ladies here, but never the same one), whatever medical background they have: they sure see a lot of livers etc, and must have some inkling what is going on inside. I am going there every 6 month since 2014. And I always ask, of course, what they think, off the record etc. And they always said quite definite things, liver surface smooth, no water, no focal thingies. Now this week, for the first time, the lady refused: "I can only say nothing to worry". Hm, what do I make of that? Maybe she is new, and that is the company rule. That would be fine. But then again, maybe she did see something, and does not want to say, and therefore ...

So I had an interesting time waiting for the report. Well, these are manageable problems.

Cheers, Tom
